(English/Privateer) Dutch Gambit (SPOILERS)
Hello all! Been having a lot of problems figuring out which quest branch people are helping people with. I've searched both steam discussions and piratesahoy.net and I'm having difficulty finding the answer...

Essentially, it seems the majority of the quest help is for the DWIC folks, so I am asking for help on the English Storyline.

Richard/Abigail have bailed on me, I've got Charlie as my Cannon-dude. I made it inside the apothecary dungeon. I make it to the Apothecary/Drug Store basement and kill the two guys (VanDerwhatsit... or whatever) and the "Asian." I have three documents incnluding the ciphered book... says in the quest "The code must be somewhere here." While grammatically incorrect I'm assuming the cipher is in this room???? I've tried reloading several times at the dungeon entrance to perhaps see if there is a random spawn I'm missing... All to no avail.

I keep seeing post about keys! Do I need to find the keys to get into the Apothecary???

Not sure, need help, and thanks.

PS If anyone needs help with stuff BEFORE the chemist on the English-branch quest I will try to help.

Wouldn't let me show the spoilers... Something with google translate?

Got it. Had to swap between translate and not.

Answer to the question is that you have to leave and come back in the dungeon and search everything. Not really sure what to do next other than read the walkthrough, and it tells me to go to an island, although how I'd figure that out on my own I don't know.... Going to try and head there

Leave dungeon and get back again and search for the all dead ends. You will find the code.

I have done the english side of dutch gambit and you get mirage(which is 4th class ship with 3rd class stats) and best cannoner.

Got it, but what tells me to go to that island (trying not to say which)?

Is there a dead end that is favored more than the others? I am going INSANE trying to find the code book that everyone seems to be finding. I've mapped the whole dungeon to no avail.

BTW, to the person who wanted to know how to start the English privateer quest, go to St. John's in Antigua. Take your immediate left as you are leaving your ship. There is a small house that looks a bit like a shack. When you approach the door, it will read "Charlie Knipple's House". Go inside and talk to him. It must be daylight. You can only do the quest if you are unknown (under level 15?). This will come as terrible news to you if you've been pirating away with great abandon. There is never an indication that levelling up will prevent further missions. This is just another agonizing pain in the ass provided by the developers.

I found mine under a pile of wood poles and rocks, literally it was a dead-end, but quite shallow.
And the level restriction is quite meaningless, just like a lot things in this game, especially the gold double-lone or whatever its name.

FOUND IT!! I would have guessed it was a bug if I hadn't heard about the success you all had. I missed a turn in my map and only found it when I carefully retraced my steps. Thanks again! I was literally losing my mind.
I found my cipher -> Straight from ladder, straight past first intersection, left at T-Intersection, left at the next T-Intersection, in pile of wood poles and rocks.

decknique, I found the passage that refers to the island. Ironically, the cipher had nothing to do with findingit. In Jacob van Berg's journal, they mention delivering the "Valkyerie" to Esmeralda Bay. I could find no other reference to the island in the later documents. I have no idea who figured this out originally but I'm guessing it was Sherlock Holmes because it required convoluted thinking. I had to work backward to find out how they arrived at the solution.

Figures... Can't wait until the Modding Community gets a hold of this.
