Every time I get some where to trade for a good price, they are now the low price and the bloody Island I left is the good one.

I'm in 10 hours on this try and yet agine I may need to start from the beginning.

It is not adviced to trade alone at the beginning of the game.
Your trading level is too low. Sol: Hire a purser in a tavern and assign him with the character menu. Depending on his trading level, the prices will change compared to yours.
It's the same with the navigator etc..
Don't be too confident with the prices given by the tavern or store keeper, These prices are true for a certain period of time.
If you wanna trade, Trust the prices on your log book (the town you visited recently) and the color of the items needed the most (blue,orange = profit), green (produced by the town = 0)

I'm still early in my current game, and I don't think I've seen a single profitable trade possibility yet out of every item at any island I've visited. Having problems finding a purser. Stuck with hauling other people's cargo and mail.

Only stuff I can make money on is washed ashore goods at the lighthouses.

Only if you start as the trader the green selling price is lower that peach purchasing price.
In other cases the trading is non profitable.
You need the purser.

I have the purser and I only go by the log book of towns I gone to, I don't know I just got my first ship perk but didn't spend it on the last trade perk I needed.

How do I level up fast to get another ship perk?

Depends on your starting profession. But usually you should have all ship skills around 3-5. Just fight, hit and be hit by the enemy. That should raise you to the next level the fastest because it will raise navigation, accuracy, cannons and defense at the same time.

Finally found a purser on Oct 20. That's usually the first officer I find, but the game just wasn't giving me one. Got a cannoneer though.

Right after I got the purser, I got a quest from the harbormaster to deliver ship plans from Saint Christopher to Tortuga. I had 2 days. Made it in 31 hours. 39k pesos, and a fight with four bad guys right on the dock. They had health potions, but they could only come at us two at a time. The guards ignored the fight.

The game is finally opening up. I might make that million pesos by Dec 1.

Well that sucks, I got the perk point I wanted and a brig to go with it for a 16k profit.

But I found that even though my purser has two of the three trade skills; I need I still haft to get all three perks, I though perks stacked or am I wrong?

Perks do not stack.

So what's the use in having a purser with out all three trade skills?

If you don't have a purser, there will be no profitable trades anywhere. I'm making good money since I got a purser with 2 of the abilities.

But what I'm trying to say is to get the last abilitie, I haft to get all three trade perks my self.

And I got a purser with two trade abilities, I still am not finding good trade profits.

Your purser will eventually get a Ship Ability to spend on the Professional Trading ability. It's faster if you have Shared Experience.

To find out how close your purser is, select the Purser in the Character screen, then left click on the Ship Abilities tab. Look at the bottom of the screen to see his progress.

You might also eventually find a better purser.

There are plenty of good trade options from Saint Martin to Saint Christoper, and probably some similar going to Curacao. There probably won't be any going the other way.
