- Keep enough amount of rum, weapon and medicines onboard ship.
- Order girls for your crew in a brothel.
- Avoid the death of a large number of your sailors in combat.

Do not overload your crew, you will be fine
hire a father , you can usually find one on the street

I think you need 15 medicine (maybe more on a larger ship), and you buy it 30 at a time. If you don't have it, crewmen die.

I keep 15 days rum at all times. I think the number turns red if you're 10 days or less. Check when you buy it at the store.

I'm not sure how much food you need, but I keep 20 days. I'm sure I could get by with less.

Sometimes a Monk will approach you on the street, and you pay him 50k pesos to serve as chaplain on your ship. This may help raise morale. He'll leave if you ever raise a pirate flag.

I've had morale drop very slowly when my ship was overloaded, so there may be more going on here than overloading.

With enough rum, overload is okay. I still can't figure out what exactly the priest on board can do. When rum runs out, the morale goes down quickly, didn't feel the priest doing anything about it.

I haven't checked for sure, but I think when I was hauling rum for profit one time, the amount of rum went down more than it should have. Wanna make your crew really happy? Haul rum. :D Or just buy a lot.

I do not overload the crew and always have rum and medicine (nothing more).
If I have full morale I do not even care about rum and morale of my crew never drops.
It is really hard to make them discontent.

It's generally overloading your crew that makes morale go down.
