Just like home, need help

I've gotten the duplicate key from the pirate in the taven at Tortuga. But when i go back to the work study of the governor, where there are two obvious chests, i get the message " No required key", even though i have the steel key in the inventory, which i can't equip. Is it bugged or what?

There are 2 chests, did you tried both ?

Yes, both of them, several times for about an hour now... and yeah, i've reloaded the save, many times over, and tried restarting the game etc.

After buying the key, go upstairs and meet with the governer's wife, she will say something, then go downstairs and try again. Remember to save before opening the chest :)

I went upstairs to "bower", their bedroom. She wasn't there. Hmm my ingame time is 20:10 though, if that has anything to do with it perhaps...

Thanks for the help, i went to the tavern and slept until next morning, went back, and there she is. But now i got another problem, the quest for finding the church robbers went bust. Have to do that one beforehand. :)

No problem, i went out in the jungle, straight forward and took a right turn. Found the two thieves on the beach. With me and my follower, both armed with pistols, it was a short fight :)

i got the key went back went to the chest on the left take everything then you fight a hard man he stops befor he dies try and recruit him then he runs off go back up stairs talk to wife then he comes back then i died he is hard so get plenty of helth aids and a gun lol

This quest... I went up to the room to see the governer's wife, refused to come back and went down to open the chest. Then some spanish dude shows up and one shots me with his pistol.

WTF.

I go back to earlier saves to try and scrounge up some armor but no merchants sell any armor at all. So I'm condemned to either fail the quest or reload, open the chest, get one shotted and die, over and over and over. This is one special kind of hell.

So I came across a "trench cuirass" being sold by the weapons street vendor. I bought it, tried "Just Like Home" again and survived. That spanish guy in the gimp suit did not one shot me with his pistol this time. It still hurt like hell and I scolled potions like it was rum (and tbh some of it was rum) but I did it. That spanish guy in the gimp suit won't be bothering anyone anymore. Incidentally that ♥♥♥♥♥ robbed me, so I save scummed to just before returning to her, after fighting MR Gimp Suit for the first time, and put all my money in the chest beside the door. I picked it up after I killed Mr Gimp Suit for good and after the governer's wife tried to rob me. Well I got all of my pesos back and sold all those diamonds. So that worked out well in the end.
