Stuck in FLTR Jarl's Treasure
Can anybody explain to me how to use the ship log in this quest? I received it together with Log entry that i should spend some time with it in my cabin. I'm going there and equipping the log and nothing happens. Is it broken or i need to do something else?

I believe it should be an action menu option, similar to what you needed to do during the Dutch Gambit to find the secret island.

Nope no action menu available. In Steam Full English guide the author writes that I need to equip it in my ships cabin and sit in "magic reading chair" which I take as a joke.

I've only done the quest line once so I don't really remember, but if it's not that "thinking out loud" option where you normally can pick between ammo or potions to use, then it must be some weird specific thing. I'm looking over the guide now and yeah all it says it to just equip it in your cabin... If that's not working, it's possible the game glitched. Try reloading an earlier save?

I have save file before I got the quest and already tried it many times. I need to look into the files to find the conditions triggering log entry.

There should be new notes in your documents tab (after you click to equip the log)

Unfortunately it's probably broken and loading a save previous to this quest doesn't work so I had to trigger this via hookmod_console.

Ok, Ship Log is broken for me and I have to manually trigger each part of this quest using console.

Ok, so the whole Jolly Roger quest was great and I'll do it again in next playthrough but every part that needed me to read shipping or study map was broken. Ship logs didn't trigger anything and the map that I had to study was empty.

If others will have similar problems and don't want to start the whole game again Hooks mod is essential. Each broken part can be triggered via console included in the mod.

That's very strange, I wonder what might have caused that, or maybe a recent patch broke it.

Just finished FTJR several days ago, without any *unknown* issues. Neither OP's issue. Hope it's not something got corrupted.

I've read that some mods can break the table of inventory items - maybe the game can't recognize that ship log correctly.
Try also to check the integrity of game files.

For now I finished the whole JR storyline so I will check it again in next playthrough. The storyline itself is really good and entertaining. :-)

I have the same problem with the quest, and I am sick and tired of loading old saves. Can you tell me how you managed to use hookmod_console, what did you type in?

If I understand correctly Hook's mod does not work with v1.7.3 of the game, but I just ran into this issue and it was driving me mad. I searched through the game files for anything containing "Wulfric" and found a quest log resource file (QuestBook_Part2.txt) that the game pulls quest entries from. In section "#QUEST Roger_7" there was a message I hadn't had in my quest log before - "Alas, no sign of any treasures inside the grotto at Mosquitoes Bay" - which made me realize the game was probably expecting me to have received this before I could move on with the quest and equip the log again. And sure enough, I had to go back to the grotto where the natives had had their fire ritual and check the empty chest. This new entry popped up in the quest log and when I came back to my cabin I could once again equip the ship log. Give it a shot, it might help.

TLDR: in my case I had forgotten to check the empty chest in the grotto which was a mandatory trigger to progress the story.
I had the same issue in english version with mods... switched to russian and it worked with that, I got the quest log update. Quickly saved and switched back to english and voila. Only at the first when u have to read it in ur cabin after Tyrex gives the ship log to u, will see if I have to change to russian every time I have to use the ship log. The only thing is that the save file's name won't change back to english, only the one after I saved after reading the log tho... so it's not permanent. All other savefiles will be english as long as u're using the english version.
