How do people Open the world map?

what is the Key to this option i am frustrated as ♥♥♥♥ right now :/....

You must have it in inventory, and there is no shortcut - you need to manually equip it in F2 tab.
You can also press "tab" key in the travel map and look at the whole Carribean region using the mouse.

when i press the TAb option i puts me to aim.... i also have the "Cheap" map in the inventory.... but when i equip it... it just zooms in i can't do ♥♥♥♥...

Tab only switches me between 1st and 3rd perosn view :/

While on ship press 'Enter' 'Map' then 'Tab' to enter the other view.

Sounds like you haven't completed the beginning story.
You only get the ocean map when you have a navigator placed on duty in F2 ships characters, and have faught and victored over the pirate boat near Le Francois of Martinique.

i do have the navigator but haven't fought that boat... you just said..

Use 'Enter' to travel to Le Francois, then land and go talk to the Tavern Owner At the Pirate Village.

Back to ship and fight the pirate. Do a save so you don't have to go back to far in game.
