Quite a while ago I played this game for a little bit and got some progress done. Yesterday I decided to try this game out again but for some reason non of my old saves show up.
Is there a way to get those saves back?
I don't really want to start a new game because I remember that it took me 10 hours to finally get through the tutorial area in the start, and I don't really want to do it again.

If your save isnt here C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sea Dogs To Each His Own\SAVE I don't think it can be recovered.

If you don't want to do the tutorial quests again, you have the option in the latest patch of the game to visit the abbot in the church to get a loan of 50,000 pesos and some doubloons. I'd still get the wine quest from the soldier at the fort because it's worth so much.

Some of the patches to the game required a new game and saves would not work. This is likely the problem you are experiencing.
