First off I woulldn't be in too much hurry to finnish calleuche early as you will need to battle, board and take over a warship (Flying Heart). You get a musket in Dutch Gambit Secret Organization and Pirate Saga. Right after the pirate saga is when most people do the caleuche.

There are plenty of opportunities beyond the named questlines. One of the easiest in accepting governor quests to kill named pirates. Often they can be found in the chests in the captain's cabin. Treasure maps are another. "Scum loading"ship boarding options is yet another, but this is laborious and time consuming. Key in mind you want a matchlock musket (why give away good weapons?) for "The Caleuche" to provide to the Indian Chief. Take your time, enjoy the story, unless you like being chased by the Flying Dutchman around the map, and want to start to learn how to rage quit on your keyboard.

I believe you can also find them in treasures randomly.

If you do the DLC up to the point that you get the Jade skull, and do not return to the shaman, the Flying heart will no longer chase you. You have no time limit from that point to finish the quest, you can wait indefinitely. That way you have all the other rewards, such as the Lamport's armor, and the double shot pistol.

Again, do not return to Dominica after you have the jade skull. At that point you have only a month to finish it.

ty for the reply, great info, i`m lv 20 and got a heavy frigate and i`m getting used to it and fighting everything at +6 speed right now, once u know how t oattack its a repeat of it, not my first time as a sea dog :), but if u say i will get chased by the flying dutchment, i might heed your words and finish up the pirate saga, yes i love the story line, its a nice way to go back and forth on the game with free play. fail on the english dutch gambit because i didn`t prepare or read about it, my bad,
game is hard and its the way it should be. playing on normal, prob should of played on hard, but having fun so..

i`m down like 10 million[ money cheat and i`m loving it tons, just keeping track of how much i`m spending t osee if i ever make it out in the +] doing quest lol, as i carry a lot of sailors and i keep all the officers i capture, not sure how many i can have as it never been full yet, hehe, might crash the game later on or sink th ship with so many captured officers

again ty so much for the info usefull stuff, jade skull i didn`t know, + the governor , i`m the guy that playes a game if it takes 100 hrs i`ll prob take like 300-400 hrs to do it, in no hurry and not going anywhere.

just wanted another ship, wonder how far in i want to have fire power and agile, as i heard horror stories about 1st rate ship, man of war is it a 1st rate ship?

manowars are first class ships yes. They are really difficult to use effectively in most combats just because their manueverability is so low. It gets pretty annoying after a while trying to chase down small ships while they circle you. Line ships are a good compromise, as you can get some pretty nice ones that aren't too bad once upgraded. The Slave Trader quest line gives you a Line Ship with 36 lb guns. The only one I've ever personally found with that large a payload.

Other than you can find other decent Heavy Frigates around, and later on in the Story you get the Fortune, a fast frigate, basically an agile heavy frigate.

The only truly special first rate ship is the Flying Heart. There are several special Manowars but they aren't really all that much better than one you'd capture from the Spanish Fleet. The FH is more like a fast and agile Line Ship, with the 36 lb cannons.
