How do you properly COMPLETE "Long Way to the Gallows"?

Question says everything.
I have already recompleted The Final Lesson, Dutch Gambit (English), the complete Flying the Jolly Roger questline, and even the "The Regata", but have NOT started The Caleuche or Pirate Saga.
I thought this was a pure sidequest.
Am I incorrect?
I cannot remember how to activate this quest, since I played the original verson in Russian.
I was think Willemstad, but I cannot recall.

How do you KEEP Hugo Avendell on your crew as an officer after the La Francois battle?
Charles told him to leave, permanently.
Do I need to have a free officer position for "treasurer" (purser)?

You'll meet Hugo again later if you've freed Bart the Portuguese.
He is a common officer, just like Fulke or Duran he'll keep asking for money in taverns once hired.

I assume you meant free Bart the Portguese when he is still in the hold of you ship and let him land on any free port after the Albatross ship battle (which I sailed away and did not engage)?
You do not take him to Willemstad do you for the gold?
That would seem to end the questline permanently.

What is the next trigger to initiate being told that he has been captured by the Dutch to save him from the prison?
I really want to finish this quest, correctly.

Someone may need to correct me here, but I think I figured out what I did wrong.
When in La Francois, do you have to ARM him with a weapon after the One Eye Dog fight in order to allow him to reward you with the treasure and initiate the Turks continuation of the quest. All other options seem to to lead to him allowing to leave him in a port, or sending him for execution.

If not do you simply go to Willemstad after freeing him the first time, and then free him from prison?

I am still trying to figure out the options based on the dialoque quest sections.

Nope...same ending, won La Francois fight, escape Albatross, free Bart, left hanging...
Still don't know where to go after freeing the pirate and dropping him off in port.
I still need assistance.

and a though fight with a class 2 ship with 48 cannons Hurrraaaaa! (boarded and captured)

going to Philisburg i hired our coward companion and sailed to conceiçao freed Bart and got an Amulet that reduces damage in the storm both sail and hull

I think you misunderstood my description.
I only released him from the ship after La Francois and dropped him on port, but he does not give me any treasure location at Turks.

This event should occur BEFORE you release Bart from prison from Willemstad and notify he was captured and is to be hanged (or at least I think that is way the story is written).

Does Hugo reapproach you in a random city, time lapse specific, or event driven?
Is there somewhere I need to go?
This is why I am confused.
I don't know who to talk to or go ask.

Yes, let Bart take a sword, then learn about his treasure, get it on Turks, then sail to Saint-Martin, then quest ends on Curacao.

What I don't understand is HOW to trigger the following notification.

Specifically this questlog entry from the Program folder extract:
"I decided to let Bartolomeo go, besides, he offered a good price for his freedom. He has got a hidden cache on Terks filled with gems which he has taken from the Company and they are also the reason why they are all hunting for him. I hope that he wasn't lying in order to save his life... He also warned me about Vazquez, he might be a problem in the future. Now I should look for a treasure before savages find it. What did he say? On the hill under the tree?"

This is not triggering, when is it supposed to happen?
Before the Albatross fight?
After La Francois battle?
After the Albatross battle?

beaten Alba at Le Fran...released Bart there headed to Turks found the treasure beaten another class 2 got notifications for visiting ANY dutch colony visited first Phili tavern Hugo was sitting there complaining talked a little with him told me a pirate was a Govs friend there in Phili talked with the servants they told me Bart got captured headed to curaçao headed to the tavern got info that bart and his boatswain were locked headed there and killed everyone and freed bart again...

and my own lack of sleeeep

Ok, now I see my error.
I RAN from the Albatross, and did not defeat her, although Bart was armed when I defeat the pirates at La Francois.

Even this old Akella "Sea Dog" gets baffled sometimes...

beating Albatross is optional i think but i dont like to leave my rear defenseless when i was at Alba Cabin i had a small dialogue with the cap and asked where was Velaz and Velaz wasnt there later Bart ask you if you killed Velaz then he says Velaz will give you trouble anyways,,,

...Velaz....Vasques...spanish names sound all the same to me for this Portuguese speaker (from brazil)
