Flying the Jolly Roger... Nemesis
WHAT... THE... FRICK. FOR REAL.

That entire mission is like one big F-you from the developers let me tell you what lol... I was not NEARLY prepared enough for that hell. I mean... woah. Not to mention that I basically had to leave everything I was carrying in that god forsaken pit... I had to save every 2 seconds because I only brought like 10 health potions and 5 elixers with me. So essentially I was forced to execute every fight perfectly without taking any damage. I even had to start over at the beginning once I realized that the last hour of literally limping through the dungeon I was going to be taking constant and unavoidable damage. I had to dodge every musket shot, parry every blow... even the regular ones since they would go through my block.... I ended up with BAD health... which put me at half my carry weight. So essentially I had to leave more things down there then I even came with in the first place... much less carry any loot out.

I liked the chest of 1000 silver near the end. Some dev flipping me the bird no doubt. I was 50 lbs overweight as it was. I hit the "rude gesture" key about 5 times and continued on my way.

I used my very last bottle of rum, that I found down there to begin with... to survive the final swim through the drowned cave. making it out with 10 hp.....

wow... just... wow. There was a lot of anger put into that quest...=P. Punishment for a life of piracy indeed.,

if i'm not wrong Rum/Wine both decrease Health cause of alcohol (think typed wrong)
while normal health potions dont cause much of issue
Yes its why I only did the JR DLC 1 time. It punishes you brutally. Now in new games I uncheck the DLC, but I am glad I had done it one time for the challenge.

lol, didn't have much of a choice in the matter. Being boiled alive like a lobster and all.... I needed to bring like 40 elixers with me down there... not 5. I also feel like there was a constant drain on health for the quest, cause it was going down during story dialogue and such, and the quest even said that I was "dying of my wounds". So I think that getting worse and worse as the quest went on was part of it. I was even wearing a madonna amulet (health decreases slower), and I still was almost completely bottomed out by the end.

That was the only amulet I brought with me too... by accident. They really understated in the quest log the "preparation" bit rofl. Glad my officers were having fun back on the boat too. Not like they would have come in handy for the 3 boss fights and carrying all the loot. I think the loot was part of the joke though. a giant stack of iron, a big ole truckload of vampire bat wings, a stack of slave manacles and some bones. That is really all that was down there. Oh and the 1000 silver nuggets that was very obviously a joke.

lol yeah... to be honest you really come out behind in the whole deal. You make a little cash halfway through, but I had to give up my entire crew (1500+ nearly full sea dogs), a good ship, and a ton of resources in elixers, antidotes, weapons and such. Plus the tight time schedule meant I couldn't spend time recouping my losses, so I was paying my crew month after month and not getting anything out of it =P. The two gold missions that gave like 600 - 800k was about the only thing that came out of it.

oh, and the fact that I was constantly paying the abbot to get rid of my bounties for spain and holland... I needed to put that guy on retainer.

is that really the end to the pirate saga tho? I mean... what was the point of that final mission other than to punish you? I figured there would be some payout afterwards, but it seems like that is not the case. If that is true then I should have just never have gone to that cave, rofl. I did get a neat gun out of it I guess, the grapeshot revolver. Is that the reward?
You are punished by continual reputation drop and bad mouthed by all stores for quite a while after the JR DLC.. Now you will go see your brother and he tells you to go see Svenson. I think...

lol. Welp, for my "good guy" play through I think I will go ahead and disable the jolly roger DLC too =P. You are correct though, the whole thing was pretty challenging and nice to play through at least once. Also the whole "journey through hell" aspect of that last mission was nicely done lol. Really drove the point home that you were being punished by God rofl.

You can do just 8 missions in this DLC. Just don't go to Tyrax when he plan to attack Cartagena. Tyrax will go without you and you can go to Michael and start Pirate Saga. And you can get Isla Mona, Torero and other unique prizes.

Hi, I am just in that F-YOU quest. I managed to kill this "Cutlass" and his guys, after running for hours in that fu... dungeons. Now I am suppose to go back to the ship. Half way "Geffrey" (the second of Tyrex captains) appears and I have to lead him to the treasure. It is already obvious that this will be a fight. But when I show him the treasure, one of his guys is shooting at me and before I can react Geffrey takes his gun and shoots twice at me.... AND i am dead. I can't see any way to solve this, as I have no control over my character until the point Geffrey shoots at me and then it is already too late. Any proposals?

After the musketeer shoots you, you do have a small window to act. Heal immediately and stay in the dialogue window with Geoffrey while your HP restores. This way, you have a chance to survive Geoffrey's shots.

Thanks for the tip, this helsp to survive the shoots, but still I am killed within 10 Seconds as I can't go anywhere, where I can fight them one by one. I understood from a post earlier, that it is possible to skip the DLC before Cartagena and proceed with the Pirate Sage. If going this rout, does it have an impact?

Well, you can use the tincture and kill them within 10 seconds:)
Far as I know, yes, you can abandon the quest line before Cartagena without any penalty.
But this way you don't get a nice bottle of poison which is a huge help in any further boss fight.

...The moral of the story is this: if the devs, who don't bother to warn you that you will need 30 f***ing pistols and 2 muskets basically until the day you need it, tell you that you have to prepare for something, you better f***ing prepare.
