Akella is a greedy publisher just like Activision.
We'll see what Blackmark comes up with. For now it's heading for the righteous way.

If you want more naval themed games, than it's worth mentioning : Sid meier's Pirates, Naval Action, Tortuga : Two Treasures (but I don't know where can it be found anymore after 10 years), Patrician III, Port Royale 1 (2001), Silent Hunter III and IV (submarine WW2), Pacific Storm (grand strategy).

Not all of these focus on pirates, some draw their attention on trading and building colonies. Some don't feature pirates at all, but they do feature the naval theme much later in history - WW2, and it's equally cool if you like Das Boot (one of the best war films in cinematography).
Among other things there are very few naval games as a whole. So I guess it's important to pinpoint the ones that stand out.

you know sid meier pirates its really simple game.. and tortuga: two treasure.. looks not good..

i played patrician series and port royale series.

silent hunter and pacific storm.. NOT my Kind of Games I like.... I HATE modern Fight with those modern Guns.. just love 16-18th century.. Thanks for sharing btw:D

BUT the Big Question is... I see Video From NAVAL ACTION every week.. looks good and amazing...
but every time try buy it... i see review of people with +1000 gameplay .. they saying there is alot changes recently and just wait for release .. dont buy at this stage...
SO dont know ... Maybe anyone here have good info about it?:D

Indeed naval action is worth it only if you're ready to take a risk.
For example nobody knew how Verdun would turn out 2 years ago. But it went well. Did not fail to disappoint.
My concern with naval action is the price. If that's a problem for you too than I would refrain from risking.

No the patch is free !
I mean that the dlc might ship together code wise with the patch. Think day 1 content dlc (as the argument went for Mass effect 3 for example) included physically in the data of the game. By buying you simply enable it.
That's just speculation out of the blue though.
And yeah we need to chill and enjoy life for Christ's sake. Live without regrets. Take care of ourselves. Sea Dogs won't disappear anywhere.

If that was the case than the patch could be released. Think of people who purchase the game 1 min after it's out and don't get the pre-order content :P. But yeah, we can only guess. I'll just wait. I don't mind waiting mostly. It gets annoying if you wait while you don't know why.

Anyway, I don't have a doubt Akella is working on it. If there is something going on I believe there just as annoyed as everyone else. Probably even more annoyed. Thanks for the replies. Have a good night/day.
Small correction - Akella nearly went bankrupt. They don't do anything for sea dogs anymore. There's like 15 people left there out of about 100 from the 2005 year and release of Age of Pirates Caribbean Tales (Корсары 3).
Blackmark studios is 100% behind the wheel.

Tortuga two Treasures indeed didn't age well. Looks like a mod.
But it's simple as well as sid meier's Pirates. It's a cool story wrapped in a linear action thriller. It's very memorable. Even after many years you won't forget it. There's been a lot of attention to good music, voice acting. Also it's the same Ascaron that made it - as Port Royale and Patrician.

Ye i dont know maybe Bought it.

WOW really 15man?.. just 15 man made age of pirate(sea dogs :pirate of caribbean)
and next one..?
its amazing.. Hope Blackmark studio make another one.
Anderson 7 ENE 2017 a las 3:39
No, no 15 were left after the recent near bankruptcy of 2013, 2014, 2015.
I don't know if Akella did anything for the series after 2005. I don't know how much they did for City of abandoned ships even. Maybe nothing.
Akella did nothing for sea dogs to each his own. 100% Blackmark studios work.
teh_beard 7 ENE 2017 a las 5:08
You have to understand the Akella holds intellectual property rights on Sea Dogs 1-3 and Storm engine.
And whenever some team from modding community comes up with something notable, they start to circle around them, threatening to sue least they cease their work... or to publish their fan-created mod as yet another "addon", or better yet a "new game".
Naturally, every next fan project begins with modding the latest Akella throw-up, and when it matures... you get the idea.

Thus you can see clear line of heritage in all the Sea Dogs games to date. TEHO being the current pinnacle of their creation.

Its head and shoulders above its predecessor - COAS, and current inflow of cash from foreign players, generated by release on Steam makes this an attractive concept for Akella, since it spends absolutely nothing on development.
And so far it was going so unexpectadly good, we even see regular stream of DLCs, aren`t we.

But you can already see how this chapter of the story will end.

Lets enjoy it until then.

I don't know how it will end but that's the best they can afford.
Sea Dogs 4 isn't happening in the foreseeable future. I'm not sure I would even look forward to that. It would be an absurdity.

From what I gather from forums Blackmark doesn't even have the source code. Handcrafted, manual sunrise.

BlackMark must have the source code. You can´t develop or program a game without it. They just don´t want that others make mods for the game as long as they can make money with unimportant DLC´s (except The Caleuche, that one is as good as the main game for my taste). I think that´s the reason why they prefer to keep the Program Folder locked.
If we trust their word. That's not true.
I will give them a chance still. They did deliver directx 9 for free and fixed achievements in 1.5 after all. We'll see.
But that of course doesn't mean buying a DLC just for the sake of it. If it's my thing I'll take it. If not I'll pass.
Money vote is the best one.
Better to recommend the main game to those who might like it.

There are many small developers out and about in our digital world. Some very good small or indy games are available. Games like "The Long Dark" come to mind. Give the developers a chance. Vote with your purchase or support them with a "Bootstrap" contribution. The only way we will get better, polished content is to give them time and support. "Witcher" did not become game of the year in the first go round. Have a little patience give honest input and suggestions. If you don't like what the developers are doing make positive suggestions. If they don't care they will fade away.

This game is slowly growing IMHO it is moving in a positive direction. Sure, there are parts that could be done better, but heck, give them a chance and see what happens.
Anderson 7 ENE 2017 a las 12:58
Indeed time for allowing to serve other nations in freeplay probably than. That feature was in Sea Dogs 3 and in COAS. Still goals to achieve left.
LHookins 7 ENE 2017 a las 18:00
My understanding was that Blackmark did have the engine source code. I know PiratesAhoy has it as well.

I don't think The Witcher is a good example. CDProjectRED does have a good source of income at all times besides there Witcher games. Most indie developers don't have that luxery :). I completely agree with your statement. Sea Dogs series does have a good community!
No it is!
At the time of Witcher 1 they didn't have GOG as profitable as it is. It only started picking up profits in the recent years. CIrca 2012 and 2013 it was still a midget in comparison to Steam.

I agree! That is the exact point I was trying to make. Give developers support and constructive criticism and they will do amazing things in a genre you like.
