The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Exploring everything, am I wasting time?
I have at least 500 hours in my current character, and was stuck at level 50 for about half of it. I wanted to explore every location and try to do just about every quest. I estimate i've explored less than 30% so far. (Thanks to certain mods, mainly francesco's levelled creatures, which is the only thing that made playing this game possible).

Problem is, this is taking too long and I still have skyrim, the fallouts, and non-bethesda games. Every time oblivion crashes I ignore it for a few days, making this even longer. Also the game is just not meant to be over level 20, making the experience seem a bit lamed. The knights of the nine and the guild quests made the game seem active, but all other quests just seem like thrown in side quests.

So to the point, is there a better game to be experiencing this all on and should i just finish the main story and move on?

Noooo! While the dungeons are copy+pasted. The quests are AMAZING! They're so much better than 99% of skyrim's "fetch this, kill that" quests.

By no means, explorinhg everything is very rewarding and never gets boring!

Knights of the Nine is by far the best set of quests in the entire game in my opinion. The other quests are "ok" for a modern role playing game. It is no Morrowind that is sure though.

You really think so? Maybe i haven't gotten far enough, the "repenting" and "collecting the armor" is a huge drag. :\

Yeah, years from now the only thing i'll remember about this game is the knights of the nine and the main quest... probably thieves guild too.

Yeah, the main quest was O.K. But the mini side quests really shined in my opinion. I mean, literally they were all different! Sure, maybe a few were catch and kill quests but they had a surprise ending, or a special element added in. I really thought the Jumbo potatoes quest was funny. ^^

Hi There digging around in old posts, :) When Oblivion was completely new, i read about a very harsh bug about long lasted charakters save´s I still till this day, keept one of my oldy char save file, that i played some 200 hours or so.

What really happend in the past when OB was a new game, was that i got that nasty save bug, as soon it loads up it crashes ingame in a few sec in a kind of a loop, same place whatever you traid to do, it simple crashed.

In those oldest TES forums,

"Cant remember" But the hardcore fans find this thing out, and if am not littery wrong?

I believe Betshed also admited that there is a bug engine saving foult in there!?
It´s like, the bigger the save file becomes the more possibilites there are that your char will die one day due to that wierd crash bug.

I just bought the big Deluxe steam version, as i bought my old DVD OB long time ago that big special box edition DVD where ever it´s hidding today? LOL

So thats the only thing i started to remember, something that you guys started to talk about i suppose here :)

The story ends that some moder fixed a save repair mod called OAF v1.2 Now keep in mind that i dont know if this as been fixed by a patch now or if OAF exist in better version. Atleast, i just wanted to cheer some info, from a oldy as me, incase this nasty save bug will ever jump up on you guys :)

PS. Oh and to your answers, I have always said this in games for more then 20 years, that If there are side queasts/mission, or a further lenght in a game, whatever the category we might speak about, RPG RTS FPS etc etc, To gain more hours and littery see every cut scene movie, new places and secret places, it´s all worth it, incase the player have ambition and time and enjoying.

The only main prob in some games, it can spoil us some secrets, or we can run into a nasty bug. Or a bug that the devolupers didnt really knew that a player would have done this or that kind of thing. The last bad thing i can come up with is, incase that particlely player after such many hours of side missions and place investigations, maybe gets so tired of it, and not get the energy later on, onto the main quest? :)

Summing up. "personal game style" Yes for longer game play, yes for more discovery of the world, yes for all or atleast many side quest as possible,

A game cost vs hours played = Many hours is a good deal for the price what it might have costed us in money :) I guess what we can call in the gaming world, Good investment, Thats why some greedy publishers dont wont us to being able to buy or play old games today that also having a greater and more stabile working mod community ^^

BR AN. sorry for a long post, and pardon my grama.

I'm not joking. While I get your point, your english is very difficult to wade through. Can you speak in your native language please? I'll just talk to you that way. :) I'm not bullying, I was simply carrying the point across that you are very difficult to understand.

Hi again, Ah ok cheers for a fully informative explanation from your side this time, :) Well, some ppl do understand what i mean some perhaps gets slide of confusing were i am heading to, the longer my sentence goes the harder perhaps it´s to understand what i mean? Thank you for telling me tho from your point of view :) I can only do my best, and try to do it better next time.

It´s not my native languge, and no search for sympati if i include to say. i have a handicap. But lots of us might have one and diffrent one as well it´s not an excuse, but to point out that sometimes some one have it a bet harder then others, but still keeps trying she´s / he´s best out there :)

Sorry for a personal take over, just wanted to replay to Major, Thank you for your kindly replay, take care out there.
