The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Is there a fix to making custom Birthsigns that work?
Getting back into the game with some light modding and among the things I would like to change is a custom birthsign. I can get it created with CS but loading in game its unselectable (just shows the info for whatever sign was hovered over last) I read that it can sometime take multiple copies of the birthsign before one works, but I was wondering if there was another fix? Nothing recent I have found.

Otherwise I can try to make do with just using console commands to add custom spell/ability to emulate the birthsign.

Custom birthsigns are complex to make, iirc the ID needs to end in 022 or something like that? It's been ages, I don't remember. But the ID number is important, that's why you see info posts on making 3-5 copies of the birthsign to get it to appear in game. It's a weird engine bug/quirk.
https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/1574593-custom-brith-sign/ <- for example, discusses using copies until you land on an ID that functions.

Anyway its easier to take something useless and pre-existing, like The Lover, and edit that instead.

edit: so is there a fix to making copies? No, not that I'm aware of, unless someone finds that 10+ year old datamine thread that figured out the ID issue. Even then that doesn't fix it, just identifies it. To increase the torture, the vanilla birthsigns aren't affected by the custom birthsign bug, so there's not much point observing their end bytes for a pattern.
