The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

GOG vs steam vs xbox app? where should i buy the game?
I played oblivion on pc gamepass. i liked it very much. Now, i want to buy it. I want to buy it on xbox app(microsoft store) but i worry that mod support won't be that good. If they are no limitations to modding on xbox app then i would buy it there so plzz tell me the state the modding on xbox app. Another thing is that gog version is drm free. Please recommend me

Grab the GOG version. It allows you to install and play without using their client.

For MOD Support -
Steam = Ok
Gog = Ok
XBOX = Not Sure.

I prefer GoG for all older games, great service and they often include extra stuff

If the microsoft store version keeps saves in the usual place (Documents/My games/Oblivion/Saves) - yes. If it doesn't, you probably can export them

Nothing wrong with the Steam version at all, but since you have the choice, the GOG version is probably better because it's "DRM free". And I like their customer service too. Not the most useful thing, but it's something.

If you want to wait for a sale, watch both of them and just pick up the first one that goes on sale. Very little practical difference unless you're burning the game to CDs and selling them to people like it's 2006

(edit: looks like they're both on sale for $5 right now, you probably want the deluxe edition with the extra content)

As far as I'm aware, Oblivion mods don't have any issue with the GOG version of the game

Wouldn't recommend the microsoft store one. It usually has compatibility issues with modding, as microsoft store games usually have unique executable files for their games.

I don't hate Steam but while I do agree with DRM free, it does have 50% of DRM which you could lose all your games if you delete the GOG platform off your computer and still play them without internet. Glad it's in Poland because there are least problems over there than there is in the U.S/Canada, uk, france, australia and italy.

Steam however is great. Usually their platform was better but it does become a little buggy. When you're in game playing with your controller then open your chat to talk with your friends, your controller will stop working. Then when it stops working, you have to restart Steam client in order to work again. That pisses me off.

Also, there are some games that are unplayable on this platform when not using the internet. For an example, USF4, GTA 5 (use to), Red Dead Redemption, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.

You paid all that money for those games that you thought you can play. But other than that, you won't be playing them without having an internet to run on.

Keep in mind, Steam is an American owned company created by Valve and everything worst might come out of it. I just wish that Valve will move its company somewhere else where it doesn't get touched.

GoG usually has more complete packages, including manuals, editors, other official stuff that is often missing on Steam, and compatibility supplements when they're needed.
I don't know about Oblivion but for example Steam version of Morrowind doesn't have the editor and small official plugins, and because of how Steam handles installation file dates are messed up which can cause loading order issues. GoG has it all covered.

If you can get it on GOG, then I get it on GOG. No matter what game it is.

Oblivion Script Extender and all mods work perfectly with GOG version, and you don't need to run the GOG client if you don't want to. Just play the game, don't even need internet except to download it the first time.

XBOX360 or PS3 is the best way to play this game, unless you like keyboard only with PC version.
i know you didn't ask, but xbox series x and s has the optimized version of Oblivion running at 60 fps, and it has proper controller support if you're into that. been playing that recently and having a ball even in the plain jane vanilla version. oh and it's on gamepass!
