Daedric Armor
Hey! I've read that you can only find Daedric armor after level 20. I am level 22 and I watched some videos on where to find Daedric armor. I went to the places (one of em being Roxey inn), but the people that were supposed to have Daedric armor equipped had steel, chainmail and fur instead. I even tried spawning NPCs that should have the Daedric armor, but none of them do! What's the problem? I haven't used cheats, my mods are mostly graphical enhancements, what's wrong then? If somebody can help me, I will be very grateful!

Then it's important for us to know which mods you use that don't change graphics.

Your information is incorrect, according to this source:

https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Daedric_Armor_(Skyrim)

... it'll begin to appear around level 48 - 50. Which seems much more plausible to me than level 20.

(edit): nvm, I'm mixing up my games here. According to this:

https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Daedric_Armor_(Oblivion)

It is indeed level 20 and can be found on vampires, dremora and leveled enemies.

This article is for Skyrim.

In Oblivion you should start seeing it after leve 20. I think a few in-game days need to pass for it to start spawning. At level 20 you can do Boethia’s quest. You will find Daedric armour there.

I did Boethia's quest, but I didn't get any Daedric items. The biggest non-graphical mod I use is Maskar's overhaul. I think I used some sort of scaling mod in the past, but now it's removed from my game. All mods are from this article: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1125736723

Maskar's almost certainly changes when daedric appears and possibly even how it appears.
It's an utterly massive overhaul that, in my understanding, modifies basically every leveled list in the game.
Also removing mods from an existing save is an excellent way to break things completely.

You should make a practice of reading about the mods you use and get an understanding of what they do before you install them. Guides can be great and helpful but not if you don't even understanding what you are doing to your game.

I have read what Maskar's does to my game, but I didn't think it would postpone the time of Daedric armor appearance in my game. Removing the mod indeed breaks my save, but after reinstalling it everything works fine. Even so, after setting my level to like 60 for a few hours doesn't make Daedric armor appear on supposed NPCs. Strangely enough, yesterday I went into an Oblivion gate, killed the first guy on sight and he dropped me a Daedric mace? I will continue playing on that save and hope to find my so desired Daedric armor. If I don't find it by the end of the game, I will probably *sigh* just use the console.

I looked into it myself since I intend to use Maskar's next time I play and it looks like it makes Daedric more rare and requiring 100 skill to use for both you and the NPC.

If I understood correctly, it will not start turning up until you are encountering NPCs with 100 skill and even then at a lower rate, on NPCs from other mods that may be using different rules and are unaffected by Maskar's scripts, and pre-placed daedric items that just exist in the world.

It does look like you can tweak almost anything in the ini files though if you would like to try and bring it closer to vanilla.

Also: This mod does not alter any game data (leveled lists, creatures, etc.)

I took that directly from Maskar's mod page.

Well, my Heavy armor skill is at 100 :D What's going on?

Also, a little stupid question - how can I tweak the mod? Is there a text file or sth in-game?

Edit: I saw you said it's in the ini file.

"directly, but only makes changes through OBSE scripts. Because of this it should be fully compatible with most mods. Load order is not important."

The rest of the sentence. It does it in post with scripting is my understanding, rather than manually to preserve compatibility with other mods and ensure it overwrites everything with the changes it makes.

Edit:
From what I read in the giant readme and inis, it doesn't care what your skill is when assigning the gear to an NPC. THEIR skill must be 100, then there is a dice roll with a chance of giving them higher tier gear with daedric being the lowest probability I think.

Ufff. I am not sure that I have even seen an Ebony piece of armor yet, at level 22. I will check if I can make everything more vanillaish. Add me on Steam, please, so we can try to figure everything out together if it's not a problem for you. I am not at home right now.
Ankou Apr 1, 2019 @ 12:59am
I'm sorry, this is going to come off as rude but while I don't mind helping someone where my interests overlap (reading what the mod does) I'm not going to closely work with you to sort out the ini and make it behave more vanilla.
I quite like the changes it makes (I actually despise the abundant gear that should be rare in-universe) and I'm ready to go relax for the evening IRL.

But some advice if you need it:
It doesn't look too hard, I ctrl+F to find all instances of daedric and look for those that affect distribution. They list the other armor types too. Looks like maybe if you set them all to 100 they will all have an equal chance of spawning? You could even reverse them to give leather a 10% chance and daedric/ebony/glass a 100% chance.
Yogo Apr 1, 2019 @ 1:05am
Yeah, ctrl+f is a useful command. I will try out that stuff when I come back home. Thanks for the advice and no problem on the adding part. If this problem is not from Maskar's (I hope that's not the case) I will seek more help on the forums. Farewell.

I don't understand how nobody answered you correctly. It's based on the luck stat. Above 50 is usually results in heavy armor. Also daedric will start to appear on bandits as you level up even more.
