if hirrus clutumnus mysteriously died in your game, read this
yesterday i went into crucible and met hirrus clutumnus, the suicidal guy who desperately wants you to kill him so he can avoid the hill of suicides. i refused, he called me a coward, and i went about my business. 3 days later i stepped out of the castle grounds, and after a few seconds, a message appeared saying hirrus died and i will never know what he wanted from me.

i looked it up on google to find people have experienced the same thing, but no reason could be found as to why he dies and why his corpse never shows up.

now a friend of mine played shivering isles for the first time today. the same message appeared just as he entered the streets of crucible, without ever having met hirrus. surprisingly though, before he got the message, he spotted something flying down from the sky. i actually assumed by then hirrus just has a random chance of commiting suicide, searching online people speculate the same, or they believe he got killed by a guard. my friend kept reloading the autosave numerous times to see the thing dropping and the message appearing, and he went in noclip to investigate, and it was surely enough hirrus himself, stuck inside a wall.

after discussing it with my friend as to why it happens, we suspect that when hirrus is supposed to spend a few hours at the top of the stairs at some point of the day, contemplating suicide, it may cause him to spawn wrong when you enter the city streets, and throw him out the borders and into the walls to die. if hirrus randomly died in your game, you can try locating him inside the walls on the side of the stairs he is supposed to stand at. his body is a quest item and should never disappear. although he wont have the keys to the reward lootbox in his house if the quest never started, so it may be a lengthy progress to resurrect him and redirect the quest to the beginning (turns out you can't) to get it done the right way. or just use code "unlock" to pretend the quest got done the right way

anyway now you know why he randomly dies. lol. TL;DR he spawns poorly

That's very interesting. Hirrus Clutumnus in my game has already died, so I might try this with new character.
