A.) The links above (Not the dll one) sends me to update to Windows 10 which I am not doing.
B.) I have done what "King Nerevar" said and restarted my computer with no luck, still stays at the Missing dll dialog.
I wanted to know if anybody can help me with this? I know its an old thread but still a relevant issue...Thank in Advance
For a first advice, make unviewable folders viewable. You do it like that:
1) open anny folder
2) open organize (sorry, I am from germany, do not know how its called in english)
3) in view (in the new window the 2nd tab) u look foor "hidden datas and folders" and make them viewable.
It does not effect ur computer in any way, it is just makes navigating to the folders easier.
EDIT:
Go to the windows folder on your harddrive and search for all X3DAudio1_7 files. Copy(just in case. Better not delete them) all which are NOT in System32 (should obviously be one).
Check if it works now. You may get another file that is corrupt, just do the same ♥♥♥♥ again with this file.
I do not know it it may help, but we can give it a try.

This was on Win7.
That link is now broken, like 97% of every link to every Microsoft support article or download ever. Then, they just redirect to upgrading your Windows version. For some reason, it requires the language to be specified in the URL now. Good job, MS...
Here's the new link (tested working on 2016-03-21):

EDIT: Looks like the original link works again.
okay heres MY fix! After head aches and hours of trying to figure it out i did it!!
(if you have any anti viruses, end process on them.
Fix 1: Go to windows (c:) > program files >steam > steamapps> common >deadbydaylight>binaries>win64> right click "dbd" and run as admin
that finally ran the program but prompted i do not have a file "x3daudio1_7" and caused and error and closed.
i downloaded that exact file here: https://www.dll-files.com/x3daudio1_7.dll.html
unloaded zip and copied it to windows (c:) > system32
it asked me if i wanted to replace it. i did. i also put it in the windows c: folder and as well as the
program files >steam > steamapps> common >deadbydaylight just for the heck of it. WORKED!!!!! let me know your exact
Just go to your game library, right click on the game, click properties --> local files --> browse local files. Inside there you will see a folder called "_CommonRedist", and inside there you will see a DirectX Folder. Just open that folder and the DirectX Installation is there for you. Normally steam does this automatically for you the first time you launch a game but you might have accidentally canceled it. It happens.
I wound up downliading the DirectX SDK software from Microsofts website. Which ended up installing or re-installing all the necessary dll files to get the games working.
So yeah, I know this thread is pretty old. But just to contribute and help others solve this issue as this has also solved my problem with Windows 7 and 10.
Download DirectX from Microsoft website:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8109
Create a folder called "DirectX", run the downloaded files and extract the contents on to the folder you created. Inside the DirectX folder, open DXSETUP.exe then go through with the rest of the setup process.
That should help you solve the issue. Hope this helps!
