I have read on this forum an update has fixed this but apparently not for me. I have just bought this game and use windows 10.

Hey Connor.

This means you have to install it via windows update.
Go into your control panel and run a windows update and it should work.

If you still have issues afterward do post here and we will find you a direct way to do it.

Thank you for your quick reply!
I have windows 10 so updating does not go through Control Panel (there is no option) but I have checked for updates in Settings. Windows says I am up to date.

Hey Connor.

Go into your steam library and find the game.
Right click > Local Files
Click > Browse Local FIles.
go into the folder named _CommonRedist
Then into the folder named DotNet

Both 3.5 and 4 is supposed to have their install files in there you should be able to install it that way.

I appreciate the help :)

Executed both exe files and got a message while installing 4 that it or a newer version was already installed and I could not install it again.

By the way the error I'm getting is:
Could not find file C:\Users\username\Documents\Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams

I've checked the path and there is indeed no such file or folder.

Hey Connor.

Are you sure that your steam and game is running as admin so it has full access? As that seems to be a common issue when that error shows up.

Hello,

I do not know how to run the game as Administrator but I ran Steam as Administrator and received the same error.

Hey again.

Did you try to do a full install as admin?
So run steam as admin and reinstall Giana Sisters.

Hello and thanks :)
I did just that, uninstall Giana Sisters, close Steam, then run Steam as Administrator and install the game again. Unfortunately I still get the same error: Could not find file C:\Users\username\Documents\Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams

Hey again Connor.

You can do the same with the game (exe). So you should simply go to the installation folder of the game (normally C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Giana Sisters Twisted Dreams\) and look for the file “GSGameExe.exe” -> DX10/11 or “GSGameEXE_DX9.exe” -> DX9. Right click and run as admin. If this is not working, maybe you have to start the Launcher as admin. This exe is in the sub-folder …\launcher\

If this is not working, try to create the missing folder yourself. So you should go to “C:\Users\username\Documents\” and create a folder with the name “Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams”.

After you´ve done second part contact me then I can send you the files it should contain via email/discord or what way you prefer.

Hello again :)

I continue to receive the same error when launching GSGame.exe and GSlauncher.exe as Admin.
So I have created a folder with the name: Giana Sisters - Twisted Dreams as you suggested in C:\Users\username\Documents\

I prefer to receive the files via email. If you read this perhaps you could send me a personal message :)

It took me quite some googling to figure this issue out. The cause is Windows Defender the option to write protected from apps. If you have a custom AV tool, you have to look there (in my case Bitdefender). Just go to the settings. It should be something like "file / folder protection". Then you can go to protected folders and remove the documents folder from the settings. That is it.
