I think people who just call it "Wario + Sonic" might not be 100% in the right either but I have yet to see someone find a better way to explain Pizza Tower's unique gameplay without dropping a paragraph or a long sentence at all. Usually its good to have some tagline to latch on to and "Wario + Sonic" is the best possible one.
Also, the earlier versions of the game were much closer to Wario, but with time this game grew up into its own thing, honestly I feel its more of a mix Of Jazz Jackrabbit + Sonic in terms of speed and level design.
Unlike all of the portable Wario games, PT isn't constrained in how much stuff can be on screen at once, so larger and open stages are where the game gravitated towards when the momentum and movement mechanics had become the primary focus.
Its Wario but fast.
Also, speaking of comparisons, I don't like Anton Blast;
It just makes me miss Wario even more cause it's everything I want a new Wario Land game to be, and it's given to some Storebrand Wario.
(I'm Envious.)
The one with the Blast & Processing, not the one were you play with your balls
you are missing a lot
I might wanna give some loving to Jazz Jackrabbit. It's a series I've been leaving on the backburner for awhile. I especially hear good things about 2.
But I HAVE to go to GoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOG-
To get those games, and I don't wanna create an account JUST for 3 games. Seems wasteful.
I have no idea why you're even being so mad about this. The inspiration is clearly there, if you play the game and you've played the old Wario games then you can very clearly see where the inspiration comes from. And even if that wasn't the case... Why does this bother you so much that you have to go out of your way to make a thread to complain about this?
Its nice it took a different direction than making a full blow indie Wario like Anton is doing atm.
Personally think it stands on its own rather than just "fast wario" considering how the Wario land series tends to shift a lot, but can understand how people can see it as such.
