Game crashes on steamdeck

Anyone know of a fix? It was working fine with the launch tweak I read on ProtonDB, but since the most recent steamdeck update it will run for like 15-20 minutes and will hard crash.

We're limited in the support we can offer at the Steam Deck / OS and Linux aren't officially supported.

Valve has tagged the game as 'Playable' on Steam Deck, meaning it should work but may require additional configuration.

We have a guide with some PC steps here[ubi.li], if you could try these best you can on your machine.

If you're using Steam Deck, Valve has some troubleshooting steps available here too.

I'd also advise reaching out to the Steam Deck Community for further advice if the crashes persist too.

Ran into the same issue recently and did some research into it. Apparently this is caused by memory leaks, which has been a problem for months.

There's apparently a fix that involves editing the .ini file and switching the 64bit exe to GRB_UPP_vulkan.exe, except this appears to be exclusive to the uplay version because the steam version doesnt come with that file (why?).

So I guess the first step would be to confirm that GRB_UPP_vulkan.exe fixes it. Then add the file to the steam version.

Hey, thanks for the feedback. I've actually experimented around a bit further and have managed to get the game to run for over an hour without any crashes so far. To do that I installed CryoUtilities and selected the recommended settings, but that crashed after 20mins again. After changing swap size to 16gb and swapping speed to 25 it has run without any further crashes, although this method takes up some disk space.
I'll do some additional testing over the weekend when I have time.

I had the same issues. Originally I couldn't get it to start unless editing the Ini file with the what's mentioned above.

Then running it, it was struggling to stay at 15fps until I turned off the 3rd party light settings (In settings of the game)

Now runs at a smooth 40 (apart from a a very rare few instances) but then crashed after 10 mins because of the Ram leak issue.

Now with cryo utilities installed, I can run it for just over an hour but sadly still hard crashes.

Have you been able to get it to run any longer?

Yes, I can play without any time limits. I also wrote how in this very thread. Merely running CryoUtilities with the default settings is not enough since the swap size is too small.
