As I've already said, Ghost Recon is an elite soldier power fantasy. My power fantasy involves swords. Which have been used in warfare for thousands of years. And can kill people just as dead as ever. And I'd say swords make a lot more sense than karambits. If for no other reason than swords are, you know, actually designed for combat.
But hey. I'm sorry if this is the bridge too far for you. I'm sorry if it ruins the game to have a new class of equipment that people other than you like. Even though you'll have every right to just not use them like all the hundreds of other weapons you already choose not to use.
Touché
The power fantasy presented in this game is beyond even tier 1. It includes science fiction technology and movie crossovers now.
I've also already made the point that there are plenty of weapons and even weapon types that go unused by players in the game. If you don't want swords to be a part of your game, you don't have to use them.
The main point against swords is that it takes dev time away from something that people actually want. In a world where dev time is free and infinite, sure, I don't care if someone wants to use swords while I don't.
Which is all moot because the only dev time spent on this game in the past year was to add achievements. I don't think they're going to develop a whole new class that would require extensive balance testing just to add something that (according to this thread) the majority of people don't want.
Just imagine our long haired hero tremolo picking and taking down a whole squad of enemies all while head-banging to Twisted Sister
Me being a drummer I'll have to say absolutely \m/\m/
