Is there any benefits to playing wildlands before this?
do most people play wildlands first or jump straight into breakpoint? Thanks!

The two games Wildlands and Breakpoint are different worlds. They are not really related, other than the fact that Nomad (the main character, you, in other words) and Holt and Weaver appear in both games. The shooting feels completely different, as are the skills required to clear bases.

In Wildlands, it is much easier to get discovered and alert the whole base. Also, in Wildlands, the environment is more complex and there are more places to hide for the enemy AI. Overall, Wildlands is more difficult in terms of combat, but Breakpoint is more gritty and realistic in terms of weapon handling and the feel that you are in combat.

In Breakpoint, you have to interact with items or people with a letter i to find out where your bases are, they are called bivouac. In Wildlands, you need to capture a helicopter and fly over the surrounding area, that's how you discover your bases. Once a base is discovered, you can fast travel to it if you are not in the middle of combat.

I recommend that you get both games, and watch on Youtube how people clear bases.

The advantages for playing Wildlands is the most beautiful environment in Wildlands, it's so beautiful and friendlier than Breakpoint (busier, a lot more people and rebels - it's not that cold and a real trip with friendly NPCs) - Wildlands is like a nice trip on vacation ;)

IMHO Wildlands is a far better game and story than Breakpoint. In BkPt I mostly just freelance and do my own stuff because the missions are not that great. In Wildlands you want to play the mission, do the recon, etc. etc. Recon is important to both games. In both my standard technique of snipe the numbers down, then clean up at close range work well. Neither is amendable to run and gun thank goodness, play COD for that. What I don't like about BreakPoint is all the skills you work to achieve would basically be called cheats in other FPS or TPS games. They all make it easier. In Wildlands as you gain skills the game challenges you more so you stay engaged. The further I play BrkPt, the less interest I have - again my opinion, your mileage may vary.
