Optimize Gear is BS!
What is it with that Optimize Gear. crap? One moment I have all my gear in the purple, then it wants me to downgrade to some of it in the blue, then the purple again, then the blue again. One moment I have Wolf Armour, then Heavy Gunner Armour, then Black Hawk armour. What is the best out of those? I get the same with other clothing. I wonder why my helmet from replaced for a pathetic-looking hat made of ordinary material that goes down to cover my ears. How does that protect my head? That is the sort of hat I’d wear in real-life in the freezing cold weather when I need to go somewhere like the bloody supermarket. Why would I need that in combat? I might as well be in combat wearing a Tuxedo and a top hat while looking like a prat.

With what I go for with the Optimize Gear sometimes makes me weaker than before when I’m shot at so it goes to show what Ubisoft knows.

I'm going from what I believe from now on. Lately I become weaker because of the Optimize Gear crap. I wonder why today when I selected Optimize Gear, it downgraded my betet from the purple to a cap worn backwards in the green. FFS! I have other head wear in the purple.

A level 100 Green item is going to be more effective than a level 80 purple item. And the looks are totally irrelevant since you can go to the customization tab and choose whatever look you want that overrides the appearance of any clothing you wear. But the whole Gear Score thing in this game is kind of stupid so I just turn it off.

Why does the green items become more effective? I've just all my weapons in the green and in the blue. This annoys me with games when they don't warn us of these things.

I remember in GTA V I had to start again because I was doing the Stock Market a lot and then I found out when it was too late, we do loads of heists and have a lot more to invest to make more millions or over a billion. Without me knowing, I blew most of it and I had to start the game again. R* did the same in RDR 2 with the gifts at the camps. They never told us some gifts are only wanted in certain chapters. I remember finding Dutch's pipe in Chapter 4 and I found out he only wanted it in Chapter 2. Now Unisoft have gone and done it with this weapons caper. I hope we can downgrade our weapons. It is dumb when we upgrade our weapons to find out later they are then better in the lowest class.

Because the green item is closer to your level so it's going to have better stats just not as good as a level 100 purple item. Haven't you played a game like Borderlands, The Division or even something like Diablo? The item level is the main thing you want to look at; if it's close to your character level then you want that. The color/quality is the secondary thing you look for. If you find a perfect Purple weapon when you're say level 20 that never becomes obsolete until you find another purple weapon then there wouldn't really be a point to Gear Score.

I haven't played a whole lot with Gear Score turned on but as I understand it the color just adds bonus traits like +10 Handling or something while the item level itself is what your base stats are coming from

Correct, the color is can add diff stats, with gold color, stats could be:
30+ handling
30+ drone damage
Meaning both stats get added like that.

But bro trust me, there is no point in further replying to the guy you replied too. If you look at his threads, etc i mean no one in the world can be this stupid, so he has to be a massive troll. He literally finds anything and everything whine and cry about....
If one character farted, he would be spamming the discussions thread he smelled the fart, he heard in game, while not knowing he smelled his own one......

How do you work it out that my questions are trolling? Your comment makes you the troll.

Optimize gear just selects the highest-grade, highest-level gear. Just use it at lower levels. You can customize it later to have the build you want. It helps you to level up your gear score, which is how you get better drops, since you want gold quality everything. There is no difference in stats of different gear scores. GS 10 is the same as GS 250, only the quality (gold, purple, blue) and the upgrade Mk level changes the stats.

I used that Gear Optimise thing and I swear it has made me weaker. I quit going by that. I've had one flying drone shoot me once and I went down. That never used to happen.

I find weapons that are green and I'm not talking about the class, I'm talking about the colour of them in general work so much better. My sniper rifle that is coloured green and in the blue class works so much better.

Somebody told me when we level-up to 100 are weapons are more effective in the green class. Surely that can't be true. That person also told me he/she finds it stupid so I can't think of that person sending me BS.

I never knew we can get weapons in the gold. That sounds interesting.

First thing about weapons and gear, get the ilevel up asap. No matter the weapon, or stats. Even if a weapon u got, or piece of gear u got, is not what u want, doesn't matter, if the Ilevel is higher, equip it. The faster u get to 250 the better.
Then you wanna do raids, to increase weapon and gear level to 300. Once u get 300 full gold....your the kind of the island

It may very well do this in some cases. Some of the gear has bonuses like +10 XP. That doesn't improve your performance. But it tries to equip the highest gear score. That's how the game determines the damage you take from enemies. If you're fighting level 100 enemies, you take more damage if you're 80 than if you're 100. That's what gear score does, other than increase the chances of drops being higher quality.

The camo or physical color, if that's what you're referring to, has nothing to do with effectiveness. Camo is purely cosmetic on weapons and clothing. You aren't detected any less from wearing a ghillie suit from a bright red uniform.

There are five weapon grades:

Normal: No Marking
Green
Blue
Purple
Gold (Elite)

I dont recall the name of the green/blue/purple weapons. Base weapons have the same stats. The only way to improve them is to upgrade them in the Mark system (1,2,3) which you do using parts from drops or deconstructing weapons, or by getting higher-grade colors. A gold ASR may have a Range and Accuracy bonus of +30, for example. A higher color is always more effective *if* the gear score is the same. I think someone may have said a higher GS green is better than a lower blue, and this could indeed be true because it could raise your own personal gear score. Always go GS>Quality. Once you hit 250, all gear will be 250, usually gold or purple. You can then get 251 or 252 gear, but only from enemy drops doing Elite Faction Missions. The are the green missions with a skull icon.

The only reason you are more effective when using weapons of higher gear scores is because your overall gear score is higher, so that reduces the differential between you and the enemies. The weapons aren't more powerful.

Once you upgrade the Mark on a weapon, any new weapon of the same type, but higher GS remains. You don't have to upgrade them again.

Turning off gear score makes encounters actually easier, since it matches you with the enemies. It's as if you and the enemy are both GS 100. With GS on, you can be 20, but the enemy can be 160 or more, you you'll be wiped pretty fast.

This is interesting. You wrongly accused me of being a troll and you told somebody not to bother replying to me and then you reply to later to give me advice. Why reply to me when you wrongly advised somebody else not to reply to me when wrongly accusing me as a troll was bad enough?

I don't go around asking questions to wind people-up on wild-goose-chases. I have had some problems. Just like Build Weapons doesn't say Buy Blueprints. I figured things out later. Even so, there should be a Build Weapons option and another saying Buy Blueprints. The icons at the top of the screen are faint and not that easy to see, mostly when I had a glare on my screen. Also, when I bought some weapons and a helmet and I wondered why I never got them. obviously, I got my weapons and I never noticed them because everything is so jumbled-up, With my helmet, I never knew I have to go under Customise and Headgear. I thought I'd find it under Loadout and under the headgear just like I find my weapons through there. I have no reason to post wind-up posts so I'm not a troll. I also haven't been mocking anyone apart from when I attacked you back when you wrongly accused me of trolling and when you told somebody not to bother replying to me. I never liked that because I felt as if you were also wrongly causing me issues getting advice here.

It's easier to have blueprints in one place. Blueprints you don't own are just a ghost of the weapon. The ones you own will have detail and a check mark. They will also have a build price of only 800 Skell, 500 for handguns.
