However if it serves as consolation despite all the wrongdoing of Ubi, they keep the servers online for many years, the The Division (one) its going to be 10 years in December and they haven't pulled the plug. YET !
But giving a game ability to run without internet is that difficult? Even online games like CS2 can run offline
In fact, some infamous examples of publishers lying about offline support are EA and Blizzard claiming that for Sim City 4 and Diablo 3. Both proved themselves liars by giving in to demand and making offline support.
Also, if you want a really weird example of (again) Activision forcing an unnecessary online requirement for a game, check out THPS remake which has an online requirement on PC and consoles... except the Switch. Even on other platforms the game still runs perfectly fine offline, you only need internet to get past the title screen. Weirder, still, once the game came to Steam, they (after a couple days of Deck players complaining) added offline support... but only for Steam Deck. Activision just proving repeatedly that their online requirement is arbitrary.
Anyway, in case you're wondering, you can indeed trick the game into thinking it's running on a Deck.
Let me add one quick remark. Crew 2 and Crew Motorfest do not have offline mode. Scamsoft PROMISED that they will add one to both, and this was last year. No news on that front. Guess we gon get scammed again.
Maybe if the Stop killing Games-campaign went through and Ubisoft wasnt in such(self immolated)hot water but thats for alternate timelines.
