Here's a thought: If you're new to BRP and you want to get "the most out of the version", start on Regular and finish all the quests and missions, including the treasure hunts. Once you've completed your first run, you can try out Tactical and customize your difficulty level.
If you start on Tactical you'll no doubt feel like a real badass gamer - but progress is going to be ridiculously slow because you'll die from every single encounter during your first 2 - 3 hours.
After that you'll get somewhat used to the challenge, but progress is still going to very slow, and chances are you'll skip all non-story missions and quests because you're fed up with getting one-shotted by every Sniper and Breacher you meet.
I bought the Standard Edition 4 or 5 years ago for 12 € on Ubisoft's web page and have been playing on the Connect launcher for about 500 hours. I got the Ultimate Edition here on Steam precisely because I want to try out Tactical.

With immersive its like you are already maxed gear level, so armor is just cosmetic and you can equip any weapon as long as you have its blueprint, it makes for a less challenging but more realistic and consistent experience because the moment you unlock the blueprint of a weapon you like you can keep using it until the end of the game.
In gearmode you actually collect gear from both enemies you kill and boxes, this makes blueprints less important because the moment you drop any weapon you can already keep it forever or even sell it when you find something better. This means you can make more money by selling gear you hoard but also means you will be switching weapons and gear frequently because you will be dropping higher and higher level gear as you go.
Immersive for sure, It makes it into a little bit of a tactical milsim. I play it on the hardest settings with minimal hud. Immersive gets rid of rare loot.
