Can I start the free trial on steam without logging in with a ubisoft account?

Steam has no free trial.

Instead you could post those screnshots as 'artwork' on steam.

If you register it as a non-steam game you might be able to take screenshots if I'm not mistaken

There is also the option to buy the game, post your screnshots then ask for a refund, but that might be a bit risky in case they decide not to refund you.

I can take screenshots just fine with uplay I just can’t upload them. The refund option could be good

If you have the game on your Uplay account, you can add it to your Steam account. As Kuma wrote. Then run it from your Steam account and you can take and upload screenshots.
