Yeah that's what i did, you do need an account on Ubisoft Connect (someone pointed out that it is no longer "Uplay".
Game mode ? i don't know what you mean. I launched the game on Steam, then Ubisoft Connect asked me to activate the bundle i just installed. (Breakpoint with DLC)
Had the same issue on my Steam Deck, fixed it like that:
More detailed:
- In Desktop Mode open Discover (The shopping bag icon in the taskbar)
- search for "Protontricks", install it, launch it
- select Ghost Recon Breakpoint from the list and click OK
- wait patiently for the next window to pop up (maybe ten seconds or so)
- select "Install an application" and click OK
- select "Ubisoft Connect" and click OK
- the window closes, wait very patiently for the download to finish (you won't see a progress bar or anything, just wait)
- when the Ubisoft Connect installer eventually opens just follow the steps as usual
- optional: I also left the checkbox to start Ubisoft Connect after installation ticked, let it update itself and then logged in there but the window was for some reason in front of the virtual keyboard - I just dragged the Ubisoft Connect window as far to the top as possible via the touchscreen and it barely worked but you may try to untick that box and log in later in Gaming Mode - then at least it should work the same as with other Ubisoft games like Far Cry 6 where Steam did the Ubisoft Connect installation for you and you'd have to hold the steam button to move the mouse and press steam+X to open the keyboard
- close the Protontricks window
- optionally go back to Gaming Mode
- start Ghost Recon Breakpoint (log in if necessary)
worked for me ;)
No, that is incorect, i linked my Ubi account with my Steam account today, and i've played Breakpoint for 3 days now.
Just try starting Breakpoint one more time to get the error message about Ubisoft Connect not being installed. If then it still doesn't show up in Protontricks I really don't know how to fix that.
Afaik you don't have to link your steam account with your ubisoft account - you only have to bind the game that you purchased on steam to your ubisoft account. So it's totally plausible to be able to play the game first and link your accounts days later...
You're still right about it being a pain in the ass though.
