Ghost Recon won't start - U-Play error
On trying to launch in either Vulkan or DX11, I get the following error 'U-Play not found' and then a crash.
Any help appreciated.

Download Uplay > creat/log your account > launch Breakpoint from Steam > activate items on Uplay (Breakpoint) > play the game.

I do not use Uplay, it's only used to verify i own the game, it's minimized on background.
And how do you install uconnect? Downloading the launcher via the browser in desktop mode?

Yeah that's what i did, you do need an account on Ubisoft Connect (someone pointed out that it is no longer "Uplay".

I am also having trouble running this game.

I installed ubisoft connector on desktop mode. I have GRB on Steam library installed. But when I try to launch the game it still says UPlay not installed.

I even tried downloading the game via Steam on desktop mode and still ran in to the same error.

With regards to this advice

"Download Uplay > create/log your account > launch Breakpoint from Steam > activate items on Uplay (Breakpoint) > play the game."

When you say 'launch breakpoint from Steam", at what point do you activate items on Uplay? Wouldn't you have to leave game mode and swap over to desktop mode, activate items, and then return to game mode?

Game mode ? i don't know what you mean. I launched the game on Steam, then Ubisoft Connect asked me to activate the bundle i just installed. (Breakpoint with DLC)

Can I ask you to describe step by step how to do it? Please

Had the same issue on my Steam Deck, fixed it like that:

Are you playing on Linux by any chance? If so download a tool called Prototricks and install Ubi Connect to the Breakpoint prefix

More detailed:
- In Desktop Mode open Discover (The shopping bag icon in the taskbar)
- search for "Protontricks", install it, launch it
- select Ghost Recon Breakpoint from the list and click OK
- wait patiently for the next window to pop up (maybe ten seconds or so)
- select "Install an application" and click OK
- select "Ubisoft Connect" and click OK
- the window closes, wait very patiently for the download to finish (you won't see a progress bar or anything, just wait)
- when the Ubisoft Connect installer eventually opens just follow the steps as usual

- optional: I also left the checkbox to start Ubisoft Connect after installation ticked, let it update itself and then logged in there but the window was for some reason in front of the virtual keyboard - I just dragged the Ubisoft Connect window as far to the top as possible via the touchscreen and it barely worked but you may try to untick that box and log in later in Gaming Mode - then at least it should work the same as with other Ubisoft games like Far Cry 6 where Steam did the Ubisoft Connect installation for you and you'd have to hold the steam button to move the mouse and press steam+X to open the keyboard

- close the Protontricks window
- optionally go back to Gaming Mode
- start Ghost Recon Breakpoint (log in if necessary)

worked for me ;)

UBI has to be "linked" to the steam account which you own the UBI game on, otherwise you will get SORRY DUDE - YOU NEED TO BUY THE GAME!

I never would suggest buying an UBI game from a 2nd party - so welocome to just some of those issues involved with using 2 services and that nonsense.

Just buy UBI games from UBI = problem solved!

No, that is incorect, i linked my Ubi account with my Steam account today, and i've played Breakpoint for 3 days now.

Use Protontricks (Found in the DIscovery Store in Desktop mode) to install Ubisoft Connect in the Breakpoint prefix. Then try running the game with Vulkan option enabled

I don't know what could cause this unless you either used the Developer->Delete Proton files option and then never tried starting Breakpoint again or you maybe already removed Breakpoint from you Steam Deck? I can only guess here.

Just try starting Breakpoint one more time to get the error message about Ubisoft Connect not being installed. If then it still doesn't show up in Protontricks I really don't know how to fix that.

Afaik you don't have to link your steam account with your ubisoft account - you only have to bind the game that you purchased on steam to your ubisoft account. So it's totally plausible to be able to play the game first and link your accounts days later...
You're still right about it being a pain in the ass though.

I found the Ubisoft Connect .exe in the Steam GR file directory downloaded along with the game from the store, set up an account and now run the games from a Steam shortcut on my desktop. No need to use Ubisoft Connect again, just run from Ste4am. Works like a charm. Hope you have got yours to work. Cheers

Very simple - install game on Deck, then move on Desktop mode and install from Discover WineTricks. After that launch WineTrick, choose Ghost Recon Breakpoint, choose Install aplication and in the end of the list will be Ubisoft Connect. After install return back to Game mode and launch Breakpoint - Ubisoft Connect will be run and update normally. Enjoy!

I found the way. Go to Installed files, find Ubisoft Connect .exe and update it. You will need to make an account if you don’t have one already.
Why this isn’t highlighted by Valve/Steam as part of the purchase process is beyond retarded
There was a DLC entry for this that was probably supposed to be designed to activate the connector (that was the only thing in the DLC). But: It just took me straight to the store landing page instead. So I did as quoted, found it in the install folder and *poof*, after crashing once it successfully activated. LOL Tx.
Bro wtf is this scummmy asss ♥♥♥♥ just got the game
