Great game but broken when using vulkan

The game is randomly crashing when playing on vulkan, ive tried some fixes recommended online (changing volumetric fog value, disabling fog background blur, selecting DXGI swap-chain in nvidia control panel), but nothing... This issue must be recent as there is not a lot of advise or support on how to fix? please anyone, ubisoft.. help?

System:
windows 11
i7-12700k
32GB DDR5
RTX 4080

Update: game works perfectly well on the ubisoft connect service with vulkan, as in zero crash issues. this is a steam launcher issue i believe.

Update 2: if you want to play with vulkan, launch the game with vulkan enabled and let the game load-in completely, then once booted go within the task manager end steam. the vulkan ver. should work zero issues.

nope, this has been going on forever. Up to nowm still isn't fixed. Nvidia already said that it's not a problem at their end, the problem's with Ubisoft/Game devs not fixing it up to now

not a single crash for many many hours while using vulkan with an 6700xt but on windows 10. just saying...

It's just a hack to replace the vulkan API with the dx11 version which runs poorly. How hard is this to fix, Ubisoft should step up and patch.

Also if you buy and play the game in Ubisoft connect, this issue did not happen...

I have only one ubisoft game in steam (this one), but when I took something from ubisoft to epic games, I now don’t use the epic launcher at all to reinstall the game, but just run the installation from uplay.
I haven't tried it, but if you don't like the steam version, you can remove it from here and install it directly from uplay. What is the difference?

How often do those crashes happen and what resolution are you playing at ?
I have just played for about an hour on also a 4080 but Windows 10 and didn't crash once.
I remember crashing on Vulkan on my 2080 Super and it was due to Vulkan loving to claim your VRAM and crash when it's going over budget.
At max settings with 4k you may go over 16 GB with Vulkan and this game. * I play at 1440p

im playing at 1440p as well, all settings max, on windows 11. im currently testing it on ubisoft connect, as i own ubisoft+ service. what im finding is that this game has ZERO issues on UBisoft connect, this might be a steam launcher issue...?

It is not a game issue it is GTX driver issue. Rattle GTX's cage tell them they need new drivers~

Breakpoint is not all your other games. And explain why everyone with issues is GTX user = DRIVER!!!!!

the new drivers are all for rtx to improve the performance - but even for rtx use the default driver or proofed drivers ..

these dump players with rtx only use the latest available driver - that's the dumbest thing they should do for other games too. they get the most expensive tool - but they don't know how to use it - it's not rtx, it's not gtx, it's not the steam that causes problems - it's the person who doesn't know the hardware and software how to use it or know how it works
