Game refuses to launch with Dx11
I've started with a clean install and before even touching anything, switched to launching with directx 11 in the game's properties -> launch option. No dice. Benchmark shows the app running vulkan, not directx 11.

I've tried setting -dx11 in launch options, tried uninstalling ubi connect and forcing it to reacquire, still launching with the vulkan executable as seen in task manager.

Has anyone experienced the same? Any ideas how to fix this or force the game to launch with dx 11?

dx11 can't be launch with that "-dx11" parameter for this game. To run this game with dx11 you need to go to your steam library, choose breakpoint then you can press the green play button and it will ask you to use which version of the game either dx11 or vulkan. the 2nd option is to go to your steam library again and choose breakpoint and right click to breakpoint properties and choose the launch option there, switch it out to dx11 instead of vulkan. everytime you run this game again after you close it then you need to press the green play button again from steam library to run it with dx11. hope this help, cheers :)

As I've mentioned in my original post, I tried these methods and they didn't work. The vulkan executable is run every time.

okay then maybe you need to force your game to think that you run vulkan but using dx11. so first backup your "GRB.exe" this is the one that run dx11 and "GRB_vulkan.exe" this is the one that run vulkan. after you backup those exe, now you copy paste the name "GRB_vulkan.exe" first then delete your original "GRB_vulkan.exe" and put the copy paste name to your "GRB.exe" so your "GRB.exe" will turn into "GRB_vulkan.exe" and now you try to run the game again

Risky. It worked for now, but there's no telling if the wrong executable might run the wrong drivers and other factors we're not taking into account. Thanks for the idea, it's something I hadn't thought of trying until now!

The surefire method without doing this would be using the ubisoft connect launcher directly, and uses the play button drop down (dx11) to launch the game, it will call steam parameter and back to ubisoft connect again. It's a hassle though for two DRM like steam-ubiconnect. Gladly i have only have to boot ubisoft connect xD

There is no drop down option on the play button and the ubi launcher has no option to change to dx11 either.

Idk if steam edition would be like that, but ubisoft connect/uplay or epic games copy would be like this

When you click on play, it will allow you to choose one of them.

Decent idea, but still won't launch with dx11 after a clean reinstall of directx11.

Hi, I was having the same issue. No matter what I set the start up to, Vulcan would be utilized and crash after a few minutes.

My workaround, Set priority to DX11 under properties, then delete the Vulcan.exe from the game folder. This seemed to force the game to utilize the correctly selected exe.

When Vulcan is fixed we can easily add it back through the file checker.

Hope this works for you too.

Unfortunately that didn't work. The game would complain about missing the vulcan executable, cancel the start and then reacquire it.
