*PLEASE HELP* So, my game is randomly crashing, and when I pause or go to a different window the game gets all choppy
My games crashing on character load up now, it even crashed on a benchmark test. I have a 3070, with intel i9 10750k CPU, I'm running the game on ultra and was getting consistenly 100 fps... Now after running a verify file cause of the first crash its doing it more often.
I also got a weird issue where if I paused too much, and or went out of the game, alt tabbed, and came back the game would look like it was at a resolution worse than 720p and Id be getting like 10fps plus the effects, like muzzle flash, etc would look like a ghast ball from minecraft even if I managed to fix the frame drops and the weird resolution bug by lowering the game to Very High instead of Ultra....

Anyonw know whats happening, why, and how too fix it?

+1 to this. Was fine using the beta drivers for NVIDIA until the March 14th driver update but now it's crashes to desktop within seconds of trying to play the game.

Are you using the DX11 or the Vulkan verison of the game?

Had the same problem last night...try turning of Enable GPU accelerated rendering in web views, in steam settings....seems to work for me (did a reinstall aswell)

In task manager. steam client webhelper had crazy cpu.

AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Processor 3.79 GHz
32.0 GB
3080 RTX
Windows 10 Pro

Running the game in vulkan.

NWM just started the game, and the same problem today :(.....maybe disable hardware acceleration...will post again if i find an answer.

Must be the new nvidia driver that is f... things up.

If you updated a driver. I would fully remove it install an older more stable version. Newer is not always better. I have not updated a driver in a very long time. It is also posible that ANTIvirus is over active and always scaning files. This is the first thing I remove. As there has not been a real virus since before SP 2 came out for xp. All antivirus's are a virus them selves!! Useless crap!
I didn’t have anything running in background never do, I open up edge most of the time look up a strategy, or where to find something close out of edge then back to game. No other background apps running and this is the only game I have that does this

This could be it, but I’ve only noticed this with breakpoint, not any of my other games.

I was using DX11, but when I’d right click on the application it’d always pop up vulkan it confused me…

Also every time I first start up the game, steam has to go through the first launch setup which doesn’t happen with any of my other games either 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have to check and see what driver I’m on, but above it was mentioned that there is a known bug for a recent nvidia driver that causes the CPU to spike?

Yes that's the one. My CPU was fine on the benchmark, it's just the GPU that's hitting 100% and shortly after, the game closes without fanfare. None of the above suggestions helped, unfortunately.

And no, I have No AV in my systems. I do not even use a firewall. My router does this better then any Proggy. And my router never slows down-effects my PC's processes. Service pack 2 for xp changed windows for ever! WIndows was finally safe. Just do not be stupid with what you install.
Ok, boomer. You clearly have a chip on your shoulder about modern technology. As a retired IT you're clearly out of touch with current gen and your takes are borderline stupid.

Yes, nvidia old 531.18 driver and latest driver 531.29 game driver have this problem atm. You gonna end up crashing or stuttering from it cause nvidia trying to increase DPC Latency for some reason. So it's better if you rollback your driver to 528.24 game driver or 531.26 hotfix driver. To rollback driver is very easy, you just need to download the driver and install it like new driver.

this is link to 528.24 game ready driver:
https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/198796/en-us/

and this is for the 531.26 hotfix driver:
https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5450

for the info about the DPC Latency you can find it here:

I dunno. I have very similar specs, and it runs fine for me. One of my buddies is having the same issue, kinda, but he can't open it at all.
('similar specs' RTX 3050ti, Core i7)
