Start from regular preset (ghost experience), set Gearscore off (wildlands basis), set advanced AI (normal is fine too, but you would feel like you are a bullet sponge), reduce the HUD from normal/full as necessary (or as you want, for ex if you don't want to able to see enemy icon across walls, etc). I'd recommend bivoac to able spawn vehicles and shop, with darkest night and realistic/ammo lost on reload, but it's up to you.
Story/mission:

After you done all of these, try adding some friends and start raiding (has to put gearscore on).
Guns:
For grab:
VSHD2 : best starter assault rifle and the third best rifle in the game, located near your starting area. Easily sprayed for entire mag and it's still controllable (and so more if you upgrade it or combining it with perk mastery and other perks). The damage is bit lacking, maxing out at 27 at mk3, so usually you need four bodyshot to kill if you didn't land a headshot. 750 RPM, 5.56 ammo
TAC-50 : best starter one-shot sniper, and third best sniper rifle in the game. located in the big harbor near the mission of Maurice fox in the early game. uses .338 ammo
G28 (wilderness skin/unique gun should been included in maria shop for free if you buy gold/ultimate/y1 pass): Easy to use DMR, uses 7.62 rounds, 400 RPM with 3 accurate round burst or single fire. maxed at 54 DMG per shot, it's quite accurate and has good range. If you are not buying gold/y1pass/ultimate, you can obtain the blueprints in the wild.
to buy:
maxim-9: one of best stealth pistol, and best pistol in term of accuracy and range for one taps. Purchasable in Maria's shop (skin), or level echelon to 10 (non skin)
arx-200 : best assault rifle. high damage (rivals LMG and technically is hitting the DMG cap for both AR and LMG per shot) and kicks a lot, as accurate as VSHD2 but can be tuned further to have more range with bipod. Bode well with assault class, and combined with compensator, perk mastery and other accuracy+handling+range perks, this gun is beast on loud. I think when you upgrade it to mk3, the damage is 37 per shot, allowing you to three hit kill people in bodyshot, guaranteed (unless it's heavy armored ones). using iron sight helps (due to -10% vertical recoil), and add some attachments to reduce recoil and that gun is a good short burst rifle. Purchasable in Maria's shop. 7.62 ammo, 680 RPM
ots-03: The hardest hitting weapon that uses 7.62 ammo (don't match with arx200 or any kind of gun that also use 7.62). Accurate, one tap DMR that comes with a suppressor that you cannot detach. This gun also have one of the worst RPM of all DMR, at 150 (for ex, g28 or m110 at 400), so it's more like accurate and deadlier to conserve ammo per shot rather than multiple shot at a time. Somehow act like a semi-auto sniper. G33 scope is the one I use due to toggleable 1x red dot holographic sight and 4x zoom sight. This gun one taps bodyshot at close range to normal soldiers, and two taps bodyshot shotgunner or wolves. However, on more range, you may requires two taps even on normal soldier that doesn't even use armors. Still, you would use two shot instead of three compared to other dmrs/rifles to kill. Purchasable in Maria's shop, but it's so expensive at 45k.
M110: Faster reload, more controllable yet less range than G28, it's very similar to the G28 in every other way (max damage of 54 and uses 7.62 as well). The only other notable thing there is you can use iron sight with it, and has more slots and options for attachments. Purchasable in Maria's shop, it is expensive at 45k
