That aside, I don't think the servers will die anytime soon. Maybe another 6 years...
Seen many youtube videos asking for offline mode and Steam topics asking for same.
Reading a book with friends is not fun.
Online games are fine but shouldnt be required if possible. ty
DO NOT SUPPORT always online DRM in games, unless you treat games like toilet paper - as in disposable.
The always online crapware is the only reason why I never purchased this game.
Thanks for the tip!
Me = wants Breakpoint
Me Also = wants a game that's supported offline because I play solo mostly anyway
Me Unrelated 2 Cents = thinks Clancy games have the best epic game soundtracks
Me IRL = gonna go with Wildlands as Breakpoint unfortunately more focused on being online strictly for coop imo :(
I bought this game for 10$ so it won't bother me much if the server shuts down.
I had more than enough fun with it, both solo and co-op modes.
"You'll Own Nothing and Be Happy" - some random WEF schmuck
Cmon Ubi just want to play a sci fi video game man.
That was true for the first games and NPCs only titles and that is true for Wildlands (Online Coop) and Breakpoint (Online Coop, PvP).
Technology allows for Ghost Recon fans to play together. In coop. And that needs online/network support. Players wanted it.
Wildlands was still playable offline, but Breakpoint was designed from the ground up to be even more like an MMORPG. The 'always online' feature follows the idea of players dropping in or out of your game, seamlessly.
Players being "online" is where the 'money' is for publishers.
People playing their games 'offline' does not allow them to:
A) track you (know what you do, what you like to do, how long you play, marketing, etc)
B) advertise to you, advertise to their partners
C) 'sticky' you, to the game ('new daily quests', etc, etc)
I too am a "Single Player only" lone wolf. I never play 'online' with - or against - other people. But I do understand the desire for AAA titles and publishers to prolong the return to their investment. These games (Breakpoint) cost easily over 100 millions in production.
The days of just selling a box and that's that are long gone. "Always online" - even for single player games, is going to be a thing to stay, if you like AAA titles.
Having said that, I would not worry about Breakpoint. The server integration IS connected to the server knowing where the (solo) player is, but that can be coded out.
Stop spreading ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mate. If you are offline you cannot play breakpoint, period.
People asked ubisoft to implement offline mode for years, even before release. It's never happening. This is a rent-a-game.
