How to auto launch in DX11?
Is there a way to always make the game open op in DX11? My game, when ever I open it with shortcuts, taskbar, or even launch from the GRB.exe ( NOT the GRB_VULKAN) in the install location, it always opens up the Vulkan option.

I have tried everything I have been able to find, command lines, moving the folder, uninstalling the game and choosing the dx11 on first start up. nothing seems to change the fact that the game wants to open up in vulkan.

Anyone have any other solutions? or even does anyone have the same problem?

Wondering this too since mine seems to decide on it's own to run in Vulkan sometimes for no reason.
Though i have just put
-force -dx11
in the launch option field and that seems to be working so far.

My next plan was going to be deleting the vulkan executable, copying the DX11 executable and renaming it the same as the vulkan exe.

Yeah i have tried all of those things as well, it doesnt work for me unfortunately :bombupset:
I tried that and then launch it the regular taskbar way and it just auto opened vulkan anyway.

I can say that if you delete the Vulkan exe you might need to either fish it out of the rycle bin or verify you game,

It should still run i'd imagine, if you make a copy of the DX11 version and just rename it to GRB_vulkan.exe, then if it tries to run vulkan it will actually be DX11.

I've been verifying the integrity of the files. For the game to be able to start for me, steam needs to ask if I want to launch in direct 11 or vulkan. Without that prompt my game will soft crash to desktop.

Also, on advance options try disabling the steam overlay.

I cleared out the launch options there
Deleted the vulkan exe
and disabled overlay.

The game just ran for me.

Was having same issue. Credit to the person in this thread.

Try adding this line to Properties>Launch Options in Steam Library for Breakpoint. Add your directory path to GRB.exe

Example with quotation marks
"D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Ghost Recon Breakpoint\GRB.exe" %command%

Will bring up the launch option box to choose between Vulkan and DX11 when starting game and does not ignore the API choice.

I tried this as well, did nothing for me unfortunately, what does seem to have worked is this fix -

that made it so I can "quick" launch my game from steam no issue!

My issue wasn't that I didn't get a choice at launch on steam, the issue is I couldn't quick launch from steam/shortcuts without getting in to the vulkan exe.

Well i found a verry easy lowkey fix lol

on steam just click the cogwheel/settings for breakpoint, properties, and change the launch option to "always ask", and always run the game trough steam library, and when you run it, click dx11 and DO NOT CLICK the "remember this launch setting" button, cuz that doesnt do ♥♥♥♥. Its an easy solution, and it works tho. Its not that hard if you are not lazy enough to not open steam lol

Running on vulkan has better performance and FPS increase. Why waste that benefit with dx 11?

Because it didn't have better performance for me, froze, crashed and if i tabbed out the game would drop to single frames and not come back until i restarted the game.

This is what i was told multiple times, i did not have this option OR get this option, so i have to go through hoops to get steam to not open the game in Vulkan

On the Steam page Right click on the game under Properties, then under General look at the Launch Option click on the DX11 one. I did and the Game runs fine.

Believe me, I tried this and all the other things suggested everywhere, non worked, maybe now a couple of months after the release something has changed sure, but non worked on release for me, which is why I made this thread to begin with. This is simply now a thread about a different solution if people could not/cannot get the properties and other solutions to work
