Both games have horrible stories. Ubisoft is inept at social commentary. The days of Assassin's Creed 1 and Far Cry 2 are long gone.
AI is horrible, animations are basic, the story isn't better there's just less of it, far less customization and lots of it behind lootboxes and grinding. And also the PC version is a stuttery un-optimized mess.
Wildlands was better than Breakpoint at launch. But Operation Motherland > Wildlands
Yeah you'd not miss out on much just skipping to EP2 or 3 or going straight to Operation Motherland for something more like WL
Breakpoint Episode 1 was pretty meh. The worst was running back and forth, over multiple regions, just to get a cutscene when in WL we just got a radio call. Some regions were barely touched and others overused. Oh goodie i get to assault another google campus in Liberty or Infinity. I'm in the minority but i didn't find the story THAT bad, but it's Ubisoft so i didn't have high expectations. The main thing that stuck out for being stupid was Fox going on a pointless suicide mission when he has a young daughter, leaving her parentless. .
Episode 2 was simple and passable
Episode 3 and Motherland feel like a demo/beta of what the game should have been. Though Stone was an incredibly boring 'Chaotic Evil' villain where at least Walker had some interesting ideals.
But it was good to have less story, more action.
I do get what you are saying, really I do, but still wildlands does many things better that I rather stomach the weaker weapon feel than dealing with the repetitive gameplay from breakpoint anymore.
Halo in, in the dead of night and quickly dispatch the enemy.
Dang, we all made Bongs out of our Silencers ...
No sweat ... they won't hear a thing when they are dead.
It's got a GTA5 type combat roll ... I can work with it.
