I'm in the same boat as OP...
You dont need save scum for game if you play slowly(maybe for strating officers on max difficulty).
- on start of the game loot all chests in houses in city, fort and pirate settlement, spots wth random item spawns
- store everything in fort chest(leave only worst weapon equipped, arpoon for example)
- go to the governer
- take gear back from chest, loot everything again
- do all start quests, choose money every time(like sell governer`s wife pendant to store owner)
- do wine quest with max bottles (70 as i remember), leave remaining for yourself - best heal in the game
- you will have ship, crew and about 50k left
On the beginning ignore gamblers, most money you make is from selling weapons - 3 machete from cannibals quest is around 10k play for fun or rolepaly :)
Low price for ships is game mechanic - they are considered "stolen" by previous owner. Raid trade ships - you can sell them and cargo for a full price.
WTF? I had so much money I was loaded and did everything in the story at the start and got a ship easily. Did you go to the church and get your 50k loan? The priest on the left of the altar? How can you be out of cash in the story? It sends you there and gives you money almost straight away.
OK thankyou. I stand corrected. Handy to know.
