And stats don't do everything, it's also about selecting the right "perks" for your navigator/cannoneer/etc. Using the wind and elements to your own benefit [...]
It can only get better and I assure you that a end-game character with 80+ stats, a good amount of perks, a Class 1-2 ship and good knowledge of the game mechanics, absolutely blows anything the A.I. could throw at you.
It would be ok if i can Grind effizient in this game but thats not possible.
The Best way to grind Ship Skills i found is do Trade Quests and Escort Quests. Thats painfull slow but its something i can count on. I know i found in every city at last one quest by the storekeeper and maybe 1 Escort quest that with luck is in the same direction. Another way is to capture and sunk ships but thats time consuming.
But the game dont have a quest giver that send you regulary to a nearby dungeons/jungles to fight so that i can constantly get Personal skill Points.
My Problem is not that i dont have the skills i get over 900k and captured a lot ships. The Problem is its booring slow and junky.
I know how to use the Wind thats the reason (and the Stupid AI) that i was able to capture with my class 5 ship in the early game time class 3 ships.
300+ munition, time, a soft seat so that my but dont hurt and a good and stable LMB Button is all you need to sink a ship as long as not surrounded from ships.
I mostly struggle level'ing "Luck" and "Stealth"
Charisma/Weapons/Firearms goes up fairly quickly while completing quests and fighting as much as possible.
Ship stats are purely optional, hiring an officer at the tavern fills it all.
I read in a Guide that i should invade San Juan and fight there the City Guards to level up or Natives in Pearl cove (last ones was to hard for me).
Im not sure i should try to invade at night san juan and grind my skills with guards. Maybe you have a better idea?
Yes Ship skills are optional i think i have either way 70% or more of them trough me and my officeers.
- "escort" missions from a tavern patron
- Cargo transport from the local shop
- Passengers while speaking to random people in the street
- Governors: fighting local bandits /// Recover a letter from an agent in enemy town
I don't pick a mission i'm uncertain I can complete.
I often come across Gentlemen of fortune in the sea, so boarding them, gives me the opportunity to duel the captain for weapon skills
When I come across a new island, I explore everything and fight as many bandits/indians as possible
"Invading" a city sounds like a very bad idea, ruining your reputation with a nation and making some main/side quests even harder, having a bounty makes it even harder to "Stealth".
You could just fight spanish soldier in any city, and jump back to the jungle when you run out of potion/ammo.
Sorry that was my bad english the Player means go stealth in the city kill guards and repeat like you mentioned. But ruins this not my rep too?
And btw can i later get Peace with Spain? Its 20 jears ago i playd the Original Version and dont remember if that later is possible.
With Gentleman of fortune you mean pirates?
I must say i rarely run in ememies in landmarks.
It gives you the opportunity to duel a pirate captain intercepting you.(weapon skills)
And finishing ANY quest gives you a bonus "Stat reward". I'd have to double-check exactly what each quest gives, but i'm fairly sure "Charisma" is given as a reward every time.
It is possible that killing a certain amount of guards would lower your reputation with Spain, again, that would require verification, but at least you get an other chance to work on your personal skills.
Abbot benoit(St-Pierre Church) & Fadey(Basse-Terre)
I am neutral with all factions 60% Bar to whatever comes next.
But it seems the reason that i am french leads to attacks from spain fleets, not allways but often enough that i hoped i can change this.
Abbot and Fadey are only for Bad reputation as far as i know.
Both dont give me any options i can choose from.
Save before entering the church. Then travel there and talk to the priest. if he's panicking because the church was robbed he'll give you a mission to retrieve the church money from robbers which results in you fighting a group of robbers in the jungle. You have to get the information from npcs in the tavern first to get them to spawn. You can do this every day assuming you savescum.
Thx i never get this missions done for the reason i dont found the intel for it.
About savescum in the church the savescum is broken. I did it there for a other mission to appear and after 3 times savescum to get a different target (port) for the quest destination the priest says around 10 savescums he have no mission for me and i give up. Happens only in the church for me.
Thx, i hope this indians are weaker then the indians in Bay of Peryl the indians in this landmark kill me and my 3 teammates.
They do pretty decent damage if you do but nothing if you don't.
Thats nothing to complicated. Block and wait for the right moment, short after the AI attacked strike back. With Light Weapons the RMB attack works good and (costly but with 2 Hits Plus AOE) shift and LMB.
My Power Level is only 5 and my Light Weapons skill only 35 atm.
