“Requires 3rd-Party Account: Phoenix Labs Account”
But why? This is now a deal breaker for me…

Honestly.. Talking about "P2W" in a farming game is hilarious to me. First of all, there is no player versus player in this game, so you can't "win", meaning it's impossible for this game to be "P2W" no matter what kind of cash offers they put in it.

Secondly.. If they do add micro transactions, it's most likely going to be a live service game, which means it'll have regular updates and events. As for whether or not it's justified to add micro transactions to a game that isn't F2P is up to the individual. Many games do it today.. FFXIV, Guild Wars 2 (used to be b2p) and Diablo 4 being some of them that are still current.

Live service games need regular funding in order to work and the initial price tag isn't going to provide that long term. But in my personal opinion, this game probably wont be a live service game.

As for why it requires a 3rd party account? Probably because it's going to have cross-platform online co-op.

For anyone who doesn't know, Phoenix Labs also developed Dauntless which is a live service monster hunter game. Take what you will from that but I'm still looking forward to Fae Farm and hoping that there isn't too much MTX considering we are paying a premium price of entry.
Saw the trailer on twitter and was excited cos this is right up my alley, but upon seeing the price AND the mandatory 3rd party account link? Hard pass. I'd have been willing to just wait for a sale to circumvent the pricing the natural way, but I absolutely do not link third party accounts to my steam.

i was super excited when they announced that it comes to pc too and not only to nintendo switch. the price for the game was a big wow bc i never would have thought it would cost so much tbh. and the third party account ... not a fan of that! i looked at the epic store page and well no account needed there? maybe i just don't saw it or maybe they are with epic i have no idea ... but that's a big bummer for me.

not sure if i will buy it then ... or maybe waiting until it's cheaper. :brownchicken:

Not about complaining. Just that I, as well as many others, refuse to play live service games. And they haven’t disclosed that information and expect people to preorder, which is not a good sign imo.

if the game requires a third-party connection...
I assume this induces, a mandatory connection, and therefore a programmed obsolescence?

and therefore the game does not belong to us unlike a stardew valley, my time at portia/sandrock etc...

Everything about his game seems suspicious. Steering away.

After seeing this and the price, it's a pass for me.

i remember that disney dreamlight valley requires a third party account too. but it's optional. it's for the cross over save file cloud thingy thing.
could it be maybe something similar ? wish the devs would say something to that.
doesn't changed the price ofc but i could wait for a sale.
That and the fact this is 60 dollars for an unknown game, I won't buy either.
