it'll run. but don't expect much. i hope that things is still optomized and squeaky clean inside. you'd better follow the setup guide if you want to avoid crashes.http://steamcommunity.com/app/22370/discussions/0/828937546147175081/

Actually, his operating system does matter. If he was on Windows 8 I would not recommend getting the game as it's hard to get running on that.

i disagree. please feel free to share why you say that.

Because the operating system would give the community a better idea how to help. The fixes for XP, Vista and 7 are all different, and I've yet to see a foolproof fix for 8. The operating system is crucial.

sorry. i disagree. if you read the setup guide, there's no different fixes for different operating systems. because it really doesn't matter. i've helped dozens follow the guide to complete satisfaction and the author has helped hundreds, if not thousands. there's no need for any of that compatibility stuff you see on the net.
can you explain to me what the diference is between win7 and win8 that makes you say there's no foolproof fix? have you tried to get very many different computers running win8 to work with FO3?
the last guy either didn't want to be bothered or couldn't explain why. i have a strong feeling what the answer was there.

p.s. before you ask, i have no idea how many of the people i helped were on win8. i never asked because imho, it's irrelevent. i'm sure some were running win8, but have no way to know.

Haven't played much Fallout 3 yet, primarily because I was too lazy to install GFWL files I needed to run it. But here's my specs.

OS: Windows 8 (64-bit)
Processor: AMD A10-4600M (2.30 GHz)
RAM: 6GB (5.46 usable)
HP Envy m6

Runs Fallout 3 just fine - no need for compatibility mode or anything.

Fallout 3's store page indicates you need at least 1 GB of RAM (for XP) or 2 GB (Vista). Recommended specs are 2 GB of RAM.
Given your specs, I'd say you can run Fallout 3 fine.

(A side note, I read a guide about how I needed to run in compatibility mode or else it wouldn't work - so I ran it. Steam Overlay didn't open up. Disabled compatibility mode, not running as Administrator, steam overlay works.)

Fallout 3 works perfectly fine on Windows 8 after applying the multicore fix. I know, because I've got it installed right now.

the GFWL update takes two minutes to download and install. you'll need step six of the setup guide as well. (also simple. click and play) because unlike the rumors, it's cpu's with more than two cores that cause problems, not Win7 or 8.
p.s. you should also install the 4GB mod to make use of your memory.

Question, what exactly is the 4GB mod? Do you need FOSE for that? Or is it a Nexus mod?

I have read it. Several times. There's no need to be rude, I was just not recalling the mod being talked about on the guide.
