Fallout 3
Ordinal 43 Not Found?
Since upgrading to Window's 10, I haven't been able to get my Fallout 3 to work properly. Upon clicking Play, the game crashes. The game also worked fine prior to upgrading from Windows 7. Can someone help?

Hey

Have a look through the steps in the guide. The specific error described, is sometimes encountered on systems running on an integrated Intel HD GPU - so, you may need to implement step #7 (d3d9x.dll) from the guide.

Terminus, I'm having the same issue and I went through ALL the steps in the setup guide. I'm still getting the same error.
just a quick look at the name of the .dll it looks like the now-defunct Games4Windows Live file.
I would go a google search with its name and + fallout 3 in the search
nvm did it myself, last answer on this thread should help you

You must install from Games for Windows Marketplace on Windows 10 http://www.xbox.com/en-US/LIVE/PC/DownloadClient
I got it to load and start playing, finally but I now have an issue with the game freezing. My computer stops responding and I have to restart completely.
FOUND A FIX,
install this program, it may say that it wont run, but no one cares. it gives you dll support without you knowing. http://corneey.com/qZb6jE

To fix the ordinal error you must install the winlive update, found on this mod page, check the description the link can be found there http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888/? under the additional downloads. As well the optimization fix should correct your crashes.

Unfortunately, since then, the game now completely refuses to work. I installed the Windows Live thing, and nothing else, and the game worked for about a month, but now, no matter what I do, the game CTD as soon as I click play. I can't even get to the main menu. I'd ask for a refund, but it's been too long, and Steam won't give me one. Any ideas?
Have you restarted since applying the updates, usually you just need to reboot after optimizing it and installing the files.
I have Windows 10 64-bit & the graphics card is Nivida Geforce GTX 980M. I followed all of the potential fixes on here. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout3/mods/21888/? Look through each part that applies to your system. It worked for me. I bought my new computer in Feb 2016 so I had to do all the fixes. It is the combination of steps that will get it to work for some of you, and others might only need to do one of them. GFWL will fix the ordinal error, but you will need to the other steps to prevent the game from crashing after selecting new game.

The steps that I followed from there are fixing the ini file, downloading a graphics driver from before July 2016, downloading Games For Windows Live, and downloading DX9 Final Release June2010. All the links to those files can be found on the nexus mods URL that I showed above.
Just in case there are more people with this issue. I went to the link Rask provided and followed the instructions. It worked perfectly. I had the most up to date ATI graphics driver already. And FYI I used the beta version for FOSE.
Older games run because of something called games for windows marketplace you will notice at the end it says xlive.dll is missing thats because it was from the old windows marketplace just download this http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=128962 and it will fix the problem with fallout 3.
Hey I know this thread is old but just in case someone like me had an itch to play Fallout 3 again and ran into this problem I fixed it just by finding an xlive.dll download here. https://www.dll-files.com/xlive.dll.html Specifically I used the top one that says SDK Debug LIVE DLL in the description box, then just unzipped it and copied it over to my fallout 3 game folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 3 goty. Again I know this is old but I wanted to share this since it works flawlessly and only took me like 30 seconds.
