Wasn't this game freeware ?
What's the point of releasing it on steam when you can get the freeware version of this game instead?

sudo snap install cnctsun

Same reason it's on the EA App version of The Ultimate Collection. It's just in there for completeness' sake. It's not like you can buy it separately.

Maybe this answer your question:

Tiberiun Sun download site:
"This is a unofficial fansite with no official affiliation with Electronic Arts"
I got it here, but I think I'd still like to have a Steam copy.
https://cnc-comm.com/tiberian-sun/downloads/the-game/installer

The above link has full WS support which is my only reservation about getting it here.

Welp Mar 8, 2024 @ 3:25pm
more people who buy again more likely we will get a remake
i own so many of the games on the Bundle, it's only an additional $6 for the rest. Might as well grab them even if I don't plan on playing them.

That doesn't answer his question.

^^^ This answers the OP's question.

Tiberian Sun is freeware. EA released the game as freeware meaning anyone can download and play it for free and they don't have to buy it.

In this case its only included in a bundle purchase for completeness sake.

Because you should support them.

A more patched version more suitable for modding also exists here. It has CNCNet integrated.

The real question is what are the player counts for the different versions? I think if you are playing vanilla then the cncnet version may be better playercount wise. If you want to play any of the mods I think the tiberian sun client is better, but unsure.

Don't support them, less chance of a remaster. Don't be so cheap.

I think it could be the opposite if they see how much attention these old games get
