The tradeoff is speed vs. accuracy, based on the range of engagment one will win out over the other. If you were to introduce a third speed, you would have to have the movement speed be somewhere in between the current two speeds, it would be an additional key bind that not many people would use because it gives neither complete accuracy or the speed required to survive rounding a corner if someone is sitting there watching.
And also, the "aiming deadzone" is a major component of this game that really sets it apart from other games, by making "hip fire" less accurate than aimed fire in a way that is not artifical. If you were to strip that away by offering a way to turn the deadzone off without sacrificing speed it would break the game because guns don't have "accuracy cones", so you would be walking around with a lazer accurate gun at full movement speed.
It takes some time, but eventually you'll get used to shooting from shoulder (or "hip firing") as long as they're not too far away.
And to those who say it's unrealistic, no one fires from the hip, you have your weapons always shouldered, ready to ads.
Another experiment is to use a Mosin/M40 with the high power scope... aim it at something by looking at the scope without zooming in, and your bullets always go where it shows on the scope. I think you need your scope detail set pretty high so you have a sight picture when not zoomed in.
The game is firstly a tactical shooter, i.e. Tactical>Realism. Changing the current system would not benefit the game as a tactical shooter and ''hipfire'' would become too attractive an option over aiming down sights in alot of situations.
However, I wouldn't be against a SLIGHT recoil decrease in ''hipefire'' mode OR maybe if they reduced the free aim angle somewhat. I never liked the idea of mixing free aim and static aim as it throws off your natural ability to point-aim-shoot. But I also see the need for it due to the high accuracy and damage of weapons.
I would propose that the free aim system was limited to an extremely low turning angel (like 10 degress in any direction MAX). Just enough to throw off your aim at +50 metres ranges, but not enough to destroy your natural aiming ability.
There is no cone of fire in Insurgency, which is why you can hip fire so accurately. Think of all weapons as Laser Guns with recoil!
Could also be latency/ping issue? Because I am 100% certain that insurgency does not use a cone of fire on any weapon (except shotguns of course).
That won't work.
