Shadowplay intermittently loses audio
This only happens with Insurgency for me, so I'm hoping someone else can help me out on this one.

When I hit the Shadowplay record key to save the last x minutes of gameplay, whether or not it recorded audio seems hit or miss. Sometimes when I play the resulting file, everything is great... but 50% of the time there's no audio (mic or ingame). I originally thought maybe a sound mod of mine was interferring with it (I had to type snd_restart so I could hear it), but I've disabled that mod some time ago and the situation remains unchanged.

I don't have anything special audio-wise going on, Shadowplay is set to record (always-on) Mic + In-game audio, and I'm using the latest GeForce Experience + (non-beta) Video drivers. I've also tried disabling SLI to no avail (not that Insurgency takes advantage of it anyway).

I'm running on Windows 7 x64 with everything up to date, nVidia 344.11 drivers. Shadowplay works as expected in other titles... America's Army Proving Grounds, Titanfall, etc.

UPDATE: I"m thinking it may have something to do with a failing headset of mine. More info: http://steamcommunity.com/app/222880/discussions/3/619568192693400216/?tscn=1417948153#c624076851185387383

Does it do that only when you press the 'save x minutes' button? I use the manual record and I've never had this problem.

I've never had this problem either, but sometimes the program will fail to record for me. A re-install fixed that. Have you tried uninstalling/re-installing?

do you use any workshop?
AkH prevent ت Oct 9, 2014 @ 2:55pm
I use a bunch of workshop stuff, all skins except for the Allahu Akbar mod. I haven't tried manual recording yet... I'll give it a shot.

I'll try uninstalling and re-installing and seeing how it works. Intermittent issues are a pain to troubleshoot... it could work a few times then crap out again so I'll wait a little bit before I say its fixed.

I havn't ever had an issue with shadow play.

but I don't use workshop. do you alt tab and things?
AkH prevent ت Oct 9, 2014 @ 2:58pm
Nah I don't alt-tab. I do some stuff, but not many things.

I really doubt the workshop is the issue, since I use it for certain soundmods and it worked normally when I recorded stuff. I mean it's just recording the output, so I'm guessing there's either some "weird conflict" between nvidia and ins rather than the soundmod itself. I'd try completely reinstalling nvidia drivers.

To add on to my first post, I use one or two sound mods.
cG. KCIV Oct 9, 2014 @ 3:02pm
Yea but workshop can cause problems that maybe nvidia is picking up.

it could also be the newest version of drivers as well. did this issue JUST start when you got new drivers?

also what is your gpu?

It started about a month or two ago, and I've had a driver update + GeForce Experience update since then and it's remained unchanged. The change notes for the last driver update was mainly talking about adding support for the 9xx series cards, I don't recall anything else of importance in there.

Since you are a PC user ;) you are aware that any update (no matter how irrelevant) can mess up things it wasn't supposed too.

It sound more like an issue with your graphics card. or shadow software. I would reinstall it, and INS and see if that fixes it.

I recorded about 4 hours of video yesterday, and I lost audio near the end of one of the videos. I used the manual record button as usual and the rest of my videos are completely fine. No idea what caused it.

It seems to happen to me with extended sessions. Like, I launch the game and within an hour or so, I can record stuff and it seems to work fine. I keep playing and after about 2 hours, I press the Shadowplay save button, and it'll save the video but not audio.

Come to think of it, it's possible it has absolutely nothing to do with Insurgency. Insurgency is just the only game that I can play for a few hours without getting bored... my sessions in Titanfall, America's Army Proving Grounds, Black Ops 1, etc. are all much shorter.

I'm also using a RAM disk as my temp save location, but I doubt that has nothing to do with it. I've used a RAM disk for recording on my laptop, and on this desktop for quite some time with 0 issues.

Hmm, I uninstalled the display driver and re-installed, but it behaves the same.

I believe this only happens when I have my mic set to "Always on", not when its set to PTT or Off. But the PTT fucntion of Shadowplay is too delayed (it always cuts off words) so Always on is like the only mode I can use :/

Hmms. The only other thign I can think that might set it off us using a RAM disk as a temp file location, but I did that on my laptop without problems for the longest time. On my laptop it was sorta required since the HDD couldn't keep up, I only do it on my desktop because I have the RAM to spare and I feel like it lowers wear & tear on my HDD.
