Sterling vs MP40
Pros and cons?

MP40 pro: very controllable gun due to low rate of fire and moderate recoil

MP40 con: ?

Sterling pro: ? it looks good ? higher ROF than mp40?

Sterling con: not very practical ironsights compared to the MP40 and also recoil is not so controllable

MP40 is weak, has a low fire rate and people usually say it has a big recoil. Sterling seems more pleasing to play with.

Interesting. To me the Sterling seems to have more recoil, and is therefore less fun to play with than the MP40.

Sterling wins.

Pros
--------------
MP40: 32 rounds, very low recoil/easy to hipfire, good iron sights.

Sterling: 34 rounds, only vertical recoil, decent rpm (650?), cheap suppressor upgrade, lightweight.

Cons
-------------
MP40: low rpm (500?), heavy for an smg.

Sterling: obstructive iron sights.

Both shoot 9mm rounds, and so share the same damage model. The Sterling seems more practical imo, but the MP40 is still a fun gun to mess around with. I just gotta figure out if it can be viable for any specific situation.

The Sterling has a rate of fire of 600 rounds per minute.[1] While the MP40 has a rate of fire of 550 rounds per minute.[2] The 50 rounds per minute advantage the Sterling has won't be significant enough to make any difference in battle IMO.

True, but I think the weight savings (it weighs about as much as a .45 pistol but packs a 34 round mag) make it a pretty cool gun. The recoil is predictable and since the barrel is so long (esp with a suppressor), it's easy to guestimate your hipfiring too. Longer barrels have always made hipfiring with a weapon a tad bit easier for me.

The irons on it are pretty poor though... but if you are going with a speed loadout you usually have 1 point leftover for a Kobra anyway.

I LOL @ how the flashlight is held on my electrical tape though (or so it looks?)

There's a reason people think that M16 hipfires well. And it's not because M16 hipfires particularly well...

Is it because it hipfires fairly well?

No. It's because the long barrel makes it easier to see where it's pointed.

That works, I guess.

Ah, the good times when my hipfiring was at the apex and I sniped the RPK bot with it.
