[SOLVED] Insurgency: Friendly Fire in SOLO MODE
I bought the game. I liked the game. Now I want to like it again.

Alright dev! I took your advice! I made a new thread. Now how about a little help with this small issue of mine...

Just asking, what about not being able to kill your teammates is ruining your Insurgency™®© experience?

If you're loading maps offline by yourself I think you can just change your FF settings with mp_friendlyfire 1/0.

If you're looking for servers, just search for and (include/exclude) noff in the server tags field (this is in the ugly gray server browser). The main server browser might have a checkbox or something for FF but I wouldn't know... I'm old school like that.

So whether you want FF on or off, it seems pretty easy to find what you want so I'm not sure what you're asking for.

I'm glad you asked that sir! As I mentioned in another thread, with every grenade thrown and bullet shot comes responsibility. On the battlefield, you can't ALWAYS distinguish your teammates from your enemies... at least,sometimes, not before you take a good look before shooting to make sure it's not a friend.

Right now I'm using a realistic modified Skin Mod to resemble 2 real factions which don't look so different in real life.

Yeah I think FF belongs in co-op, it makes people a bit more careful with their use of explosives and LMG's so it's less likely for one guy to hog all the kills... but in PvP it becomes too chaotic in modes like Skirmish with 32 players running around and no clear "front line." People underestimate the IED/C4 way too much on Ministry, lol.

Thank you for answering my friend!

You see I already tried that.

~ (console) -> mp_friendlyfire 1
Started a SOLO -> HUNT -> Sinjar map
Not working

Started a SOLO -> HUNT -> Sinjar map
~ (console) -> mp_friendlyfire 1
Not working

Started a SOLO -> HUNT -> Sinjar map
~ (console) -> mp_friendlyfire 1
callvote restart round
Nothing changes - my bots are still immune to my grenades and bullets :(( (very sad face)

But thanks again for trying to help!

All I'm asking is for a choice here.

Or at least a lead from one of the guys that worked on that update that disabled it in Solo mode to know where to look in the game's files and modify it myself.

You can give this a shot... go to your Insurgency's cfg folder...
  • Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\insurgency2\insurgency\cfg
  • Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/insurgency2/insurgency/cfg (Apple + Shift + G lets you paste this path in real easy)
  • Linux: ???

And open server_solo.cfg. In there, add:
mp_friendlyfire 1

That looks like the file that the game executes when you load stuff through the solo menu. Hopefully that works.

I've just tried that and it doesn't work. The bullets go through them like they are ghosts.

I guess you can also try server.cfg and autoexec.cfg as a last resort, other than that I'm out of ideas.
Eclyton Dec 22, 2017 @ 1:42am
Tried that too. Somehow the game is ignoring all the FF settings in the cfgs.

I hoped the devs would give some attention to improve a game we already have instead of focusing 100% on the next one.

And MrBrightside - if you're wondering if I'm the only one wanting realism (FF) in the Solo mode, check these out:

These guys didn't get a solution to the problem and tried everything I tried.

Why not shortening my path here instead of forcing me to download an illegal older version of your game just to figure out how to solve your team's mistake?

If you can't provide me a solution, then at least put me in contact with a dev that is able to help us.

For everyone interested: It appears that I managed to solve my issue by starting the hunt game through console - for example by typing 'map buhriz hunt', and NOT from the SOLO menu.

I can activate the realistic friendly fire now using your information.

However - as it is in the gaming / modding world - when you find the solution for one issue, another one reveals. When using this workaround for HUNT or CONQUER the opposing bots do not use Heavy Armor - so they are weaker.

I made another thread about it - I just wanted you to know this one can be closed.

If anyone has a solution for this new thing, please post it there. Thank you for your support!
