Unfortunately the error says that you hardware is not good enough to run the game. :(

The game requires a DirectX10 compatible graphics card. If you are sure that you have a graphics card that is compatible make sure that you are using your external graphics card instead of the cpu internal one.

We are working on lowering the specs but that will take some time though. Please bare with us!
cool i don't care about a refund as long as it'll eventually be patched and i can play. also, if you want a refund you take it up with steam i think, not in the forums. i recently got schooled on that little lesson...
alright ill wait
how long will we have to wait? (happening to me to)

I got a similiar problem: the game didn´t start. Fixed it after reading this thread:
http://www.terrariaonline.com/threads/game-doesnt-start-no-crashlog.74569/

"It has to do with the XNA Framework. When you install it, the directories of the framework doesnt get the specific rights to use them (to be exactly: nobody got the rights). So you have to set all the rights for every directory that belongs to the XNA framework!
Here are the directorys for Windows 7 64bit installation:
C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/assembly/GAC_32:
Microsoft.Xna.Framework\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Game/v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Graphics\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Xact/v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553

C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/assembly/GAC_MSIL:
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Avatar\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.GamerServices\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Input.Touch\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Net/v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Storage\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553
Microsoft.Xna.Framework.Video\v4.0_4.0.0.0__842cf8be1de50553

This is how you change the right to use it (I have a german installation, so the translation might not be precise):
- rightclick the specific directory
- select properties
- select the "security" tab
- click on "adavanced"
- select the "owner" tab
- click on the bottom button "edit"
- on this window select the "administrator" in the row and make sure to select the checkbox below
- press apply and close all the windows
- now the directory has the correct rights for the system to use them"
Same issue. Im running an alienware, windows 7. Never had this problem before. Not even with Terraria
Delete Local Contant and reinstall

Interesting, When I bought the game, I had not noticed the DX10 in min req. If I had noticed the DX10, I most probibly would not have bought it. And according to you all the game should not work on my system but it does perfectly so far, yet I see youall with super machines compaired to mine are having so much problems. My specs are:

XP Pro 32bit
Intel(r)Core (TM)2 Duo CPU E7400 @ 2.8 GHZ
2 Gigs Ram
DirectX 9c
NVIDIA GeForce GT 520 1 gig vram DX11 compatible

Now, on another thread, someone had a system like mine but he had a NVIDIA GeForce GT 200 series 1 gig vram DX10 compatible card and the game would not even load for him.

At this time Im at 15/108, point in the game, with no problems so far.
I hope this helps in any way to figure out the problems others are having
anyone knows how long it will take to fix this problem?
I've got the same error. I really hope that they can do something about this I really want to playthis game.

Ive checked on your GPU on the internet and that card is rated very bad for playing PC games and may be your problem.
