I'm pretty sure you can't unlock any developments in alt mod.
I added god mode, speed mode, explorer mode and random start.
When I end the era I unlocked all developments that I do.
I unlocked developments in game and achievement in steam.
It makes me doubt and make a discussion in here.
Whatevere, It's good for me.
I wonder how (or if) it is possible to play in non-alt-mode.
I too unlocked a lot of devellopments AND Steam-achievents in alt-mode that were not supposed to unlock.
What about the very last category of devellopments (only 4 ambassadors other than e.g. Desert)?
Can they be unlocked in alt-mode? I haven't tried any of those yet.
edit: I just realised: I'm about 3 years late... ^^
My curiosity about this dynamic persists. I haven't played Reus in a long time (and I didn't get very far) but I would like to see how complex the game can become because of unlocking developments.
Unfortunately I cannot offer any resolution on playing in a normal (or non-alt-) mode......yet perhaps it is that "large planet" option.
Maybe I will be back if I perform some research.
:-)
