sometimes destroying a village is easier
danger and awe are the best to control them on a small time scale.
having them not getting to much income at once is what makes them greedy
increase their resources slowly but i know tic tac the time is running.

If a village is stronger and has more HP you can punish them with earthquake without destroying it.
Also, if they send army after your giants, you can destroy them with earthquakes or muck bombs and it will sometimes make their greed to go to zero. Just be careful to not destroy sources(or destroy them and build again). Sometimes, you need to defeat 2 or 3 armies

Maybe Awe that makes them grow but stops greed

Awe ad danger are the two primary ways to prevent greed, mob destruction is the easiest way to remove greed. How do they work now?

Danger works by preventing greed growth outright. It is the most powerful, but most difficult to use, method to prevent greed growth. As long as the danger level is above that first bar you see in your village (the very bottom) greed will not grow. However, if it is above that second bar, the villagers will seek out and destroy a source of danger, or even be destroyed by a source of danger if their army isn't up to snuff enough. Because danger only shows up in bulk patches this balance can be hard to maintain, but some tips can help.

First, look for animals at the edge or just outside of a village's borders. This can push danger up by 1, 2, 3, or 4 at a time instead of 5. You can control it a lot. Utilize the fertilize abilities to make it potent or great (supreme is the same value as great). And finally, pay attention to base danger, aspect danger, and symbiosis danger. Javelinas give more danger near other javelinas! The goal is to boost danger in patches not big enough to bring it up above that second line. Know how much you'll add, and let it grow.

Awe works by increasing the spread needed between resource values in order to grow greed. Greed only grows when the current village's resource's value is more than 20 away from that resource's cap. So a village at 20 food with a cap of 40 food is fine, but if that cap is then increased to 41, it will start getting greedy. You'll see those three red arrows at that resource. What Awe does, is that every point of awe within borders increases that range before greed happens. 1 awe means that same village will not get greedy in that second example, the 20/41, but it will start at 20/42 instead. If you have 100 awe, the range is 120.

Awe is really hard to get to extremely high values, however. So pay attention to symbioses and such, as those are the best ways to achieve high awe. Animals are usually the best way to increase awe, since they have a range, and awe values for animals aren't usually that much lower than the raw values for plants. Hemp is a good source of awe, as are tea plants. Pandas as well, and blue whales. A good forest awe generator is *herb*/deer/deer/oak/deer/deer/*herb*. Each deer will give 11 awe on every patch in range. If all patches are in range, that's 220 awe. I think the most possible awe you can get is alternating panda/salt. Assuming you can hit max levels of both, and since minerals have +awe aspects, you can have 8 awe on every patch from a panda, and 30+aspects on every patch with a salt. So panda/salt/panda has a reach of 7 range and has awe values of 8/16/16/46/16/16/8 for an average of 18 per patch, which increases if you repeat the pattern to a limit of 39 for a full world circle of this. But as you can see, even the deer in the forest takes a lot of space, and only gives 220 awe if your village is big enough for this. Which means they can only afford to grow with a cap of 240 above their current value. Not viable to rely only on awe. Danger is the only truly reliable way to prevent greed.

Finally, the ways of reducing greed? Time and punishment. Time: just wait. As long as they aren't in danger at all, their greed will reduce if their resources are at their cap. Note: they cannot be in danger at all. Not even the first bar passed. This is another drawback of danger. And punishment. Hit them. It works best if you destroy mobs. The groups that come after you when they're greedy enough. Armies attacking other villages don't count for this. Only a little bit. And hitting their village with slime bombs and earthquakes works but is dangerous. I don't know if the seismic aspect affects this or not.
