Not a reply on this review at all. Just a crap post expressing hate for a game you haven't bothered to play.
You sir, FAIL!
Well I dont share your opinion. I really love the design of the Ooze monsters, I'm not disappointed by the game, not even a bit. If you heard this RE sucks, then the opinions of the people who told you so sucks. This game is pretty well, undisappointed. I dont prefer pointless shooting from RE5 and 6.
And very nice review, I agree with you. The game itself is awesome, but it felt a bit short to me too :D
You do realise that RE isnt just about zombies right? Hunters, dogs and giant spiders from RE1, Lickers from RE2, Nemesis and mutated worms from RE3, mutated people and insect bodyguards from RE4, parasites galore in RE5 and pretty much everything in RE6. After all that, including multiple versions of the "tyrant" boss in most of the games, you really think that RE is still just about zombies?
Zombies are the weakest form of a mutation that the virus has done from the start, with hunters being arguably the most successful as they appear in as many games as the proper zombies do but are more dangerous. Due to that, the ooze fit brilliantly as an enemy as they are pure mutation. The basic sort is what would normally be a zombie, but the fact they are unpredictable in where they come from makes them far more appealing as an enemy.
It's MORE 'Resident Evil' than any new RE game (released at this time) could ever be.
Yes, it can turn you off at first and the demo really doesn't even begin to explain 1% of its awesomeness.
Yes, this game "sucks", depending on one's point of view. Stupid RE fans (and also 'posers') won't like this game cause you have very limited moves and even the characters' running movements are a bit odd. The graphics also are quite mediocre by this time. But if you care about GAMEPLAY, CLASSIC RESIDENT EVIL GAMEPLAY, then this game is pretty much the best.
And Raid mode is possibly the best Mercenaries-like mode ever created for a RE game.
I mean, come on, it's like Borderlands!! How better could it get?
Damn well-spent 40€, and I even thought about cancelling my pre-order due to the sucking demo, I'm very glad I didn't.
That said, I still loved RE6, but RE6 surely didn't make me feel like the classics and Code Veronica did (everything before RE4, basically), nor how THIS GAME did. I believe this game has the best soundtrack amongst every RE title. I felt very thrilled and quite scared at some points, as well as afraid of dying.
"..undead zombies eating humans.." like nemesis, plant 42, iron maiden, lisa, giant snake...
never played resident evil or only lego island ?! (;¬_¬)
Revelations feels like a mix of zero, 1, bit veronica and re4 for me.
You search all the rooms and find keys so you can open new rooms and find more useful items,
the whole level design and had 'nuff moments like "wtf/wtf r u?!" , "fight them or just walk away" , "great, chainsaw ;_;" etc.
cons:
- box is only for weapons and not for herbs&weapons s:
- story a bit short
- AI is sometimes useless(but feels like zero with the AI)
It's not the best resident evil ever, but the old feeling is back mixed with sum new stuff and it's good n_n
love it or hate it, but stop with Q___Q²²³²²³³³
my short opinion ._.
Interesting thought about the box and the green herbs. I actually prefer this system of not being able to simply horde supplies into a box that just transfers them magically from one place to another. Its convenient, but I feel the game would be far too easy if you could do that with herbs. I had a few moments where my screen was flashing red and I had no herbs left to use, so simply had to run from the enemies until I could backtrack and locate a herb I couldn't pick up previously. RE1 was quite similar to this also, but RE2 and 3 seemed to give you more backpack space and then had the "herb garden" design of unlimited herbs in a single spot that kinda stepped away from it.
good game with ♥♥♥♥♥♥ graphics and almost unplayable controls
6/10
would be amazing on a ps2, but on a pc comes of as a lazy port
It's a very enjoyable game (especially now that the control issues are at least partially sorted), with an engaging story (much more so than I expected!) and interesting environments and gameplay. I was a bit underwhelmed by environmental detail in some areas, but given that it was a port from a 3DS game, it still looks quite excellent. The sound is a mixed bag -- mostly good, but the music doesn't enhance the atmosphere remotely as much as it did for early games in the series.
While a few of the characters are a bit too ridiculous for their own good, some of them are actually quite likeable and good additions to the series' cast. Parker and Raymond (hair style aside) are both very interesting and characters that I hope we might see more of in the future.
Overall, I enjoyed it a lot more than I thought I would. It isn't the best game in the series, but it's a solid entry with a solid port that would run well on a toaster. Capcom probably should have priced it lower, but that doesn't impact my views on the game itself.
