Does Revelations get better beyond Chapter 3?
I played through Chapter 3, and so far I haven't had much fun. The combat is simplistic and repetitive, and the story and atmosphere have been totally forgettable. I don't see myself playing anymore of this, but I thought that about RE6 after the first few hours of Leon's campaign, and ended up liking that campaign enough to be glad I pushed on and finished it.

So is Revelations just a late bloomer, or am I in for more of the same if I keep playing?

well i felt the first half of the game was best, but then thats mainly because it focused on the ship rather than other parts. however considering you liked the rest of RE6 despite me my self feeling like the first couple chapters of leons campaign were as good as that game got so i really dont know.

I don't think it's the best resident evil ever but the more I play, the more I appreciate it.

Thanks. That's SUPER helpful. -_-

I actually haven't spent an incredible amount of time on the ship so far. Like, I was on a shore for a little bit, and I was in the mountains for Chapter 2, and it looks like Chapter 4 is some kind of flashback set elsewhere. All of the locations have reminded me that this was a mobile game though; which I can't hold against it, but at the same time Cold Fear on the PS2 has a better realized, more detailed monster infested ship setting.

As for Leon's campaign in RE6, I hated the opening (it's 20 minutes of walking and nothing happening, no story, no action, no tension), but once the zombies showed up it got better until you got to the town. It's the streets through the bus sequence that I really hated and almost stopped playing over. After that I thought Leon's campaign was decent (barring the fact there was zero story in the whole thing).

"So is Revelations just a late bloomer, or am I in for more of the same if I keep playing?"

It's actually worse after these Chapters...

1) The storyline is so stupid I laughed, The dialogues are so bad they are funny , The characters are just not interresting (Jessica and others, you will see...) ==> you couln't care more about them. Even the regulars of RE (Jill and Chris) are bland.

2) Most of the time, you will have to revisit the same boring areas twice or even more as different characters -_-', 4 playable Characters ==> not immersive 'cos you switch from an area to another one every two chapters + the sub-stories are boring (gameplay and plot) ==> they should have been cinematics, it would have been enough.

3) The bestiary ==> I personnaly don't like the monsters the T-Abyss virus have created but I guess they are ok,

4) The bosses, you will see by yourself but they aren't really impressive nor memorable.

5) No true Inventory + Instant Heal + No running + The puzzles are so easy (no interest)

6) The Genesis (the gun which allow you to scan things) : it's funny at first then boring when you scan each rooms to find items which should be in plain sight

Well that were my 2 cents about the game, I still enjoyed the game (a good portage and it felt more like a Survival than RE5) but it doesn't come close to RE1, RE2, RE4 and even RE5 (which was more an action game but a very good one at least).

The RAID mode is also a nice addition to the game (loot!) but I miss the Mercenary mode :c

I just finished campaign today and overall it's a great RE game. I hate the fov, deadzone on controller aiming and the dodge mechanic sucks massively . . . apart from that good game lol

Agreed, the dodge "feature" was a joke and I never used it.
The game has some more action parts but yea, it pretty much retains the same pace throughout..

Its a port of a handheld game. THAT is why is simplistic. It was meant to be played in bursts, while your on the go. Its resident evil: light.
Coldhands Sep 16, 2014 @ 6:55am
^Then maybe they shouldn't have ported it to the PC, because this is simplistic even for a handheld game.
Big Shaq Sep 16, 2014 @ 8:01am
It's not simplistic, you can dodge, stun and kick enemies. There's a lot of different enemies and bosses as well which makes this game even more interesting. The guns are pretty interesting too with upgrade paths and different usefulness.

^That's why I was asking if it got better soon. Two hours and 3 chapters in and I've fought all of two different enemies using two different guns (one of which I only had for one level) and it really has been super simplistic. Every fight has just involved shooting the enemy anywhere until it falls over, then scanning for pick ups, 90% of which are just pistol bullets. If there's more to it than that, the game hasn't told me about it yet.
I've got enough games in my backlog that I don't have time to slog through boring gameplay waiting for it to get good.

Fights involve dodging and stunning enemies to melee them, not jhust shooting them. Try to get to the first boss and see if it's simplistic then.

Already uninstalled, sorry. Nothing about Revelations grabbed me, and I've got too much else to play to give it any more time to get fun. Maybe Revelations 2 will be better.
Thanks for the advice though.
