*SOLVED* P1 Controller Problems

Hey, I was wondering if it was possible to allow players to choose which controller is player one? Right now, I have an Xbox One controller and a PS3 Hori Fighting Stick V3. I tend to play fighting games with the fight stick, but in King of Fighters 2002 and 98, even if I disconnect the xbox one controller, i'm unable to bind the fight stick to the P1 side.

I have used xpadder to get around this issue before, but the problem with that is I have a weird feeling that increases the chances of desync.

I don't think so. 98UM has this same problem and I unfortunately never got an answer on fixing it.

The only way to get the Fightstick on the P1 side is to have it be the only connected controller at the start. But if you wanted to local play with two controllers the Fight stick will always be on the P2 side.

have you tried to click the name of the controller in the control binding options and then click a button on the controller u want? with the mouse

Yeah, it lets me swap between Keyboard and the Xbox One controller for player one, and then Keyboard and Hori V3 on player 2

Hi, as mobman notes, it does allow this already. You can either click on the joystick name to reassign it, or press the [LK] key will the joystick is highlighted. Then press the button on the new joystick to assign to that player.

isn't very intuitive anyway, would be nice if it is written on screen in controller options

The problem I have is that if I have my xbox controller and stick plugged in at the same time p1 will automatically default to xbox and p2 will be the stick. The only way I can make p1 the stick is if I unplug the xbox controller entirely. I have the same problem with every kof game. I know I can fix it by setting my stick as the primary controller in windows settings but I don't want to do that since I only use the stick for fighters and some arcade shooters.

Thank you two so much! This single thing kind of ruined the experience of playing the game for me, and that's all it took to fix it!

@Cute Little Girl, use the arrow keys to go into the menu in the game, then using your mouse, click on the name of the controller in the p1 spot. Not the arrows, the actual device name. It will prompt you to press a button on the device you want as p1, then you can proceed to set controls for it.

Unfortunately, the game doesn't show a mouse cursor (maybe a new problem for Windows 10?) and randomly clicking and moving the mouse hasn't worked for me. Can you provide a solution?
